NOW I'M REALLY GETTING MAD!!!
FFS WHAT IS THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE!!!!!!
YOU ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ PIECE OF ♥♥♥♥ DEVELOPERS. Do I really need to reverse engineer the game and fix it for myself?
Alright. Why do I unlock Campain + if it's gone as soon as I restart the game? Why do I unlock anything if it's gone after restarting the game?
Why do I even gain XP and spend it if it's gone after restarting the game? Why do spend 2 hours playing a game unlocking stuff if it's gone after restarting it? Unlocking everything in one session is probably going to take ... I don't know? 24 hours? And after that? I end the game everything gone again?
JESUS ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CHRIST ....
I'm sorry, I don't like to curse like this. I SINCERELY APPOLIGIZE FOR MY INSULTS. But losing the progress 3 times in a row is really something that can drive one mad.
Now that I calmed down ... Please help me :)
C:\Users\<name>\Documents\Road Redemption\Saves\0_0.save
Settings are stored in the same folder, in a file named 0.settings.
Over the past couple years, two scenarios have been reported that prevented progress from being saved correctly.
1. Anti-ransomware or anti-malware software sometimes blocks access to folders under C:\Users\<name>\Documents for all but an approved list of applications. BitDefender in particular caused problems for ROAD REDEMPTION when its anti-ransomware feature was first introduced.
If you're running such a utility, you can try adding RoadRedemption.exe to the list of programs that are allowed to write to Documents subfolders.
2. The Steam cloud synchronization feature has occasionally seemed to overwrite the local saved game with the first version saved to the cloud, i.e. the initial game with no progress. You can disable this by right-clicking ROAD REDEMPTION in your Steam library, selecting Properties > Updates, and unchecking "Enable Steam cloud synchronization."
Now that you know where the save file is located, you can do some troubleshooting to narrow down when and where the problem occurs.
- Before launching the game, pull up the save folder and make note of the date and time stamp on 0_0.save.
- Launch the game, complete a race and exit to the main menu (but don't exit the game). Alt+Tab to Windows, pull up an Explorer window and check the save folder. Has the save file's time stamp been updated?
- Exit the game completely and recheck the save folder. Does 0_0.save still have the updated time stamp?
The good news is, this problem is almost certainly due to a setting in Steam, Windows or some other utility running on your system, rather than ROAD REDEMPTION itself. Do some troubleshooting and post results here if you still need help.
Good luck!
