Completely Stuck in Adrift causing a 25 year gaming VET to hate Adrift. May have tech issue
25 year game veteran. Tons of experience. Was so excited to enjoy Adrift and its beauty. I am completely stuck in Adrift, for 3 hours I can't find what to do next, and I am truly starting to hate the damn game. I need to manually do something with the Mobilus mainframe. I follow the stupid white arrows and they take me nowhere. Sometimes to debris way out in space....sometimes to places I've already been. I even watched countless videos to try and find what to do and it didn't help at all. The outdoor tunnel buildings he goes around the 22 minute mark aren't even THERE in my game.

Lost. Confused. Frustrated. I cannot believe how stupidly designed this game is at this point. I find everything fine for the first 3 hours or so and now the "radar", waypoints, everything isn't helping.

I can't tell you how frustrated I am. I loved the first couple hours but, after this issue, I would definitely not recommend this game. Fetch things, repair things, go to way point after waypoint. IIIFFFF you can even find the next waypoint.

Also, I may have a broken game at this point. I float deep out into space and have a hatch just floating in the middle of nowhere with a computer floating in the middle of nowhere too.

Really loved the start of this game but frustration and possible bugs have really hampered the experience of what should be a gorgeous game.

The hatch in the middle of nowhere implies something is broken/bugged. I would verify game files or uninstall/reinstall. If your game is glitching out that could explain why you're having trouble navigating. I never had much trouble finding my way around, I mean they practically lead you by the nose following a breadcrumb trail of oxygen bottles. Even if you get totally lost, the map is only so big, and you would eventually find your way to the right place even if just by chance.

Yeah I'm REALLY starting to regret purchasing this game too. After the last update my game freezes periodically when it hasn't done this before. The so-called map is useless and going "outside" depletes my oxygen supplies at a ridiculous rate. That doesn't make any sense what so ever.
Finally, the damage physics are just insane. Every little bump destroys my space suit no matter how soft I "hit" something. So explain how bumping sideways into something cracks my visor? Adrift is turning into a grind that I can't enjoy due to these issues. So if you're thinking about buying this then think twice.

Sounds like you indeed have broken the game. Can you send me the contents of your ..\appdata\local\adr1ft\saved folder? I'd like to take a look at the save game. If you can tell me about where you were in the game I can send you a corrected save game.

In the first "chapter" I bumbled around for hours. Some how I got to the right place and set the disc into the mainframe. Now hours into section two I have followed the way points and there is nothing to do. Locked door for one and a console telling me to manually fix some thingamajig. Eliminate that first way point until it is relevant. Once at the console that way point should then be updated to at least direct you to the thing you need to do next. Continuity is the main issue here.

Did anything ever come of this? I am also having the same problem with this game: Multiple chevron's/arrows on the radar, taking tens of minutes to go between, and there is nothing to do at any of them. Frustrating,to say the least.

It also seems that check points don't save all 'achievements', either. If I come back into them game from a previous session, most of the SSDs I'd collected in the previous session need to be collected again.

Playing in VR, FWIW.

Yeah, I finished the game by starting over. I paid real close attention to the markers and did not stray too far. I missed a computer terminal that needed to be activated. The markers did not direct you right to it but it was close to one. Then the objective became achievable. You have to read a lot of the logs to get the general idea. Persistance is the key. They could smooth that one bit out though.

I think a mode\option\cheat\mod to be able to explore the game at your own pace without taking damage or needing oxygen refills would be lovely to let it breathe as a vr experience. The nature of the challenge feels exaggerated\accelerated from reality and can take the wonder out of it for me (feeling more like a game than presence in an environment), and I only care about this because the game effectively creates an immersive environment that I want to really soak up and have an experience with.

As you finish each "chapter" you will unlock the ability to explore them without an oxygen penalty. Unfortunately it is only each section alone not the whole enviroment at once. This is the first game I have ever seriously considered getting a VR setup.

wow, hey bud. I would love to send it to you. I never fixed this issue and have sent videos to your other teammembers showing how odd this has been.

How do I get a saved game from you to continue from around the same part of the game?

Thanks!

This is the ephiphany I finally had after spending hours randomly exploring:

You have to start at the center of the station at the Cerebro (?) Core. There you have the 4 computer screens with the 4 different section names on them (Spiritus, Solarus, etc.) and 4 different corridors leading to the the 4 different sections. You work on 1 section at a time, following the corridor straight through, including breaks in the station where you have to spacewalk to get to the next part (the name of the section is on the walls to let you know you're still in the right section). You have to travel to the mainframe at the end of each section and create a new computer part, then work your way back to the Cerebro Core in the center to install it.

The station is basically a center wheel with 4 spokes (with gaps) going out in a straight line in 4 opposite directions.

Made the first core, got to the hub, told me to manually replace it. Besides spiritus the only other open door was the one at top where i'd assume you put the cores, since it worked. I did that because the marker pointed me to a location far away, completely the other way from Spiritus which was the only open door/section. After reading the bits here, i gave up. The game just doesn't pace itself well and the gameplay is not that good. There really isn't any oxygen issue if you're careful and the EVA terminals are i think infinite, so that's that.

Yeah I nearly got stuck at the same bit. I had a arrow pointing back towards the main hub and one towards the Mobilus core but it was locked. Turns out I had to go back to the hub into the mainframe to use the computer which tells you which components to fix.
Then I could go back to Mobilus the core was now open so I could proceed on.

This is what helped me stop getting lost. I really would've liked a map overview button instead of just this nimbly radar for a 6-axis rotation game. Was able to finish the game on blind run in 3.5 hours but would've taken me another 30mins or ragequit had I not stumbled upon this post. It's a bad game because it's repetitive, but I like kusoge.

I awarded you extra helpful. Thanks again.

Totally agree with original poster, I've tried getting into this game several times over the past few years (all in VR) but never get beyond an hour or two at a time before giving up. I get nowhere, don't know where to go or where I've been. This game should rather be called "oxygen-bottle-hunt-in-space"

I'd happily try it again if there is a mode for undamaged space suit and I can actually enjoy what I'm doing. Then it will truly be ADRIFT rather than ASPHYXIATE.
