How to install and activate RCBot2?
Since the game doesn't have vanilla support for bots, I downloaded the most popular bots mod, however, the directions for activation seem rather complicated and outdated, any help?

Update: I installed the mod but the game clashes upon starting a match.

I recommend using APGRoboCop's fork; you can find it on his GitHub. It was pretty straightforward to install and it includes waypoints for 15 more maps than the version on DoDBits's website; the only unexpected complication I encountered was that I needed to launch DoD:S in -insecure mode.
After that, you can just boot into any map that has waypoints, and enter rcbot addbot in the console a few times until you have enough bots.

I had the same question, I searched a lot but nothing worked, and it also happened that my game crashed with a version of RCbot, until I found this that did work for me:
1. https://disk.yandex.ru/d/s5tXD2-lSuW5-Q , unzip to the Day of Defeat Source\dod\ folder
2. Run RCBotProfiles in the Addons folder, specify the correct path to the rcbot2 folder (eg E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Day of Defeat Source\dod\addons\rcbot2). Check the box Add bots automatically, specify the desired number, then Save Config & Exit.
3. Start the game with the -insecure parameter, create a server, the bots will spawn automatically.

Still not what I search in my case, it still require insecure mode. I know that Bots can be with V.A.C in secure mode, but I don't know if this is another Bot mod or other really difficult configuration.

Anyway, unless you want to create a multiplayer server with bots, I don't think it's too much of a problem or too lazy to have to start the game in insecure mode, I also think you can even leave a shortcut to start the game in each case

I was speaking about dedicated servers, not game clients. Especially on Linux

I run steamcmd.exe and install DODs, then I installed RCBOT2 as you advice.
Server starts OK, I can connect to server and bots are conect. But bot run around base and no shoot.
That I have to set else?

If you saw the bots running around, that is the best you can do at the moment.

They are not looking at waypoints for now on dod:s, you will have to wait for an update from...RBCot2.

Nothing else you can do for now.
