Pretty active considering how old it is. There are certain servers which you will find populated regularly.

Yes it does. Definitely worth buying on sale right now for $1.99. Almost 1200 people in game at this moment. Maybe the number of players playing seems low to people who are used to playing games with thousands online at any time, but keep in mind, that most people who play DOD:S are very committed players who play frequently. It's a great game, and there are a handful of servers that are always populated.
