How can I renew maps?
You may have to do a clean out to find out for sure, too many custom files perhaps?
Go to the Steam Library, right click on the day of defeat icon, then "Manage" then "Browse local files"
The "Half-Life" folder will come up, "dod" is in there. Move the dod folder out of "Half-Life" or just rename it "dod_old"
Also if there is a "dod_addon" folder in "Half-Life" grab that too and move it or rename it dod_addon_old.
"dod_addon" is like a custom dod folder...

To fault find (for really bad installs going wrong)...
Take the dod and dod_addon folder out and put it somewhere or renamae the two.
Let the game download again.
Test it.
Put back the custom stuff... it can result in the same errors. But if you are careful you do have that back up.
The dod folder (and "dod_addon" if you had one) you saved has all your custom files.
Folder "Half-Life\dod" has your config.cfg files (userconfig.cfg and autoexec.cfg) commandmenu.txt and many <mapname>.cfg and <name>.wad files
"Half-Life\dod_downloads" will have a bit too, mostly maps and server sounds you downloaded.
"Half-Life\dod_addon" may have custom files.
There can be other folders like 'Shrikebot' or 'sturmbot' and with those you may need to replace a file called "liblist.gam" (in the dod folder) that starts the bots.
This worked for me, thx.
.....update - nevermind. This came with another set of issues. Screen clips back to center when moving mouse. Un-playable
"Raw mouse input" issue
https://sturmbot.org/index.php/dod-turtorials/day-of-defeat-player-guides/99-error-mouse-will-not-rotate-player-or-laggy-buggy-mouse
To Fix:
error dod mouse
Open a game.
Go to Options. Mouse Tab.
Tick the box beside - "Raw mouse input"
Click "Apply"
This will write m_rawinput "1" into your config.cfg file.
Note 1: There are also errors reported that work when the option is ticked then unticking solves the issue.
Note 2: There are still issues being reported from 2013 to 2019 on Github.
