If you have seen this Thread on Day of Defeat: Source, you can ignore it.

I have in both games ca. 10 hours and to be honest I enjoyed it more than I thought.
What is your experience with the games? Which version do you prefer over and why? Would like to hear some opinions from veterans.

I have more hours and experience in DOD:Source but I personally think that the original Day of Defeat is much better.

The only reason why I think the first one is better is because it simply offers more content. It has more weapons and an extra faction (the British). There's also better details in the original. Characters actually breathe, you can see their chest moving a bit. In Source, the characters are absolutely static, they're absolutely still.

Many people prefer classic DoD for various reasons.
For me though, the choice is DoD:S maybe because it was what I played the most back in days (2006-2008 especially) so I'm more attached.

I have played both extensively and used to be more of a fan of DOD:S, but as time has gone on I realized how much better 1.3 is. There's just way more variety of weapons, maps, teams, gamemodes, etc. That's not to say DOD:S is a bad game though, they're both fantastic in my opinion. DOD:S could have been much better than 1.3 if only they kept the british, added the old classes, and reintroduced the old gamemodes.
