Server lock
So what happens when you have a base+gear and the server dies out? Are you able to transfer your items or are you forced to start over?

Player data is per server to prevent hopping.

So you are screwed if one day a server is high pop and the next dead?

Official servers will always stay up. Can't blame the devs if unofficial servers are closed by renters.

Starting over means less than nothing in this game, it's completely non-consequential. Anything you have stockpiled can easily be regained in short order, and building a well fortified base is cake with a few people working together.

Besides that, getting attached to any of your items in a full loot game with player vs player is a pretty big no no. It's basically the cardinal rule.

Getting attached isn't my point. My group of friends owned an entire server in ark/rust for months. It's nice to have a base of operations with gear and items i need to become the warlord i desire to be. But it seems an official sreverse pop goes from max pop to about half that in a day, me and my friend got some decent gear /car and a base stared on server with the population dead within 24 hours

In short yes. Playing on private servers is taking the chance that the server can go offline any day (if admin decides not to pay for it any more), you can get banned for any or no reason or, server might get whitelisted and you're not on it.

So yeah, if a private server goes offline then you'll have to start over on a different server. There is no asset transfer or a global inventory.

I'm talking about official servers.
