removing plot sign and your base parts
Hi guys,

Curious, say i want to move a base, i know i need to destroy my plot sign and all, but my question is, if i destroy my plot sign and start packing up bit by bit to move it, how long do i have before the parts despawn? Is it the same time frame as inactivity?

You can't remove the plot sign until you have packed up all base parts.

This may have changed in recent updates.

About 4 months ago I want to move my plot sign only about 30 meters further from the river, so I started packing up my walls (the base was not all that big yet) and left the boxes on the ground. By the time I got the plot sign moved, 5 maybe 10 minutes. the packed up pieces had started to despawn.

This was a PVE server with not many others on.

I think the key is to pickup the packed item, and then drop it again. It will take longer to despawn.
Although the despawn rate will depend on how many people are on the server, and it seems to depend on how many items in the "world" have been dropped on the ground, there is some sort of Item limit. I've had packed up boxes still lying around for more than a week, when the server had not restarted.

If the server restarts, all of the packed up items on the ground will despawn.

You need to packup every base part before you can move or destroy your plot. The packed up parts can sit there for 10 minutes or an hour, depending on how the server feels (it's random). Try not to pack up your base close to a server reset, you will lose all your parts if it does :(

Far out, base is HUGE i really dont want to have to rebuild.. okay next question... clan members and plot signs, can a clan member access the base and move parts to set the despawn reset?? Or does it have to be the plot sign holder

It's not random on the despawn. An area can only hold a certain amount of items, so when you start packing up/dropping/chopping items it will despawn the oldest one.

CAREFUL! If the server restarts, all the parts on the ground will be gone.

Moving a base by yourself is brutal if you have a lot of pieces. I highly suggest that you have a vehicle and maybe a tent to help you store items as you go.

In regards to clan members helping. Any clan member can do anything to any of your clans bases.

I hear ya, my base now is huge too and Id like to move to the new areas of the map, but its not gonna happen.

Yes a clan member has access to your base, and moving the pieces should reset despawn timer. but a server restart trumps all. and there is no guarentee. Good luck ;)

I know they can move base parts, but i know you need to interact with the parts on the regular depending on base size, each base part 12 hrs plot sign 48, but does it have to be the plot sign holder that interacts with the base to reset that timer or can any clan member?

Yes clan members interacting/ accessing your base resets the despawn timer

This is why I always hide my bases in the trees.
