Do you keep your stuff after leaving the server?

I'm pretty new to the game (3 hrs playtime), I just had my first session and left the server by waiting 30 seconds for the button to be available. My question is, do I start at the same spot with my gear when I enter the same server later?

yes, u rejoin where u left and with the stuff u had. when u join another server, you are another random freshy ;)

A okay thanks. So can you have like multiple characters depending on which server you go? Like when I leave a server with a char of mine and join another as a freshie, can I go back to the previous server as the charcter before or is he deleted?

you'll have a completley seperate character on every different server you join.

If you wait 30 seconds and leave server. Your caracter log out imediately. If you dont wait 30 seconds, and choose quit game... You will imediately leave game but your caracter will stay on server 30 seconds. So if you re on a pvp server never leave by quiting game. Otherwise there will be 30 seconds to be killed ( if someone is near and spotted you ). You will have separated caracters in all server you play on. And unless you die, you will not lose gear in any of them.

also worth mentioning are the crafting guides - if you find a guide click it in your inventory to learn it right away. Even if you die the knowledge stays with your character - so you learn more the more you play (and find)

you need to learn each guide on each server - mostly they are to help construct base parts - some are for better bandages or different melee weapons

Yes your character is locked to each server, so as long as you didn't die and log into the same server, you will still have all your gear and log in where you logged off.
If you learnt any guides you will not loose those when you die.

I just had a strange bug (feature?) happen. I was in a safe area, so logged off using the exit game (Didn't wait the 30 seconds). When I logged back in a few minutes later, I was miles from where I logged off. Still had all my health and inventory, just nowhere near where I logged off. I tried to repeat the process, but logged in the second time right where I exited.

Same here, just had this error. Logged back in across the island with all my gear.

i think this happend when you log out in or too close to another persons base
