Can you fortify pre-existing buildings?
Can I say, find a house or structure I like in the world, then board it up etc, or is building a base from scratch the only form?

I'd be playing on a private server if that helps at all.

Private servers have the option of a "build anywhere" feature which does allow that. But you can't clean them up (remove debris and trash etc.), so sometimes building from scratch can look nicer.

this would give the RP guys something to do as well, immagine a whole RP town comunity. The clans would be able to stake claims within the city, and base raiders would only be able to access funnel points on the home. So you could fortiy these areas and know their attack points.

Maybe you could even advance the house design. Add adtional rooms, add / remove windows and doors. This would give purpose to the many structures in the game that get no attention.

Just something to point out..

Yes, there are pre-existing structures that can be fortified on all servers. You just have to look for the right ones. There are sometimes several in the same area. Hint: Don't look in towns.

Thanks I'll keep in mind if I get the game, although it looks like it has a 50 hour requirment, so I'd have to get my playtime up anyway.

What is this 50 hour requirement you speak of?

For that specific server he mentioned.

I love the build anywhere feature and I'm glad it's a option too.
