A lot of fun - Fire Karai needs serious balancing. Also, Donny's dash attack needs a tweak.
This game is a lot of fun and is challenging in a way that doesn't make me feel like garbage like another particular roguelike game does at times. What sticks out to me immediately is how extremely unbalanced the fire variant of Karai is. I can usually sneak past her with minimal to no damage but the turtle-seeking fire attacks that take up the whole map along with her extra ranged dash attack, it's brutal and really needs some attention.

Also Donatello's dash attack needs to be faster. The hang time on it when he's already slow to attack pretty much makes him only selectable when you're trying to get artifacts. He's my favorite but I seldom play as him. I think building him differently from the others is a fun challenge but that dash attack needs to be tweaked in order for him to be a serious choice.

Aaaaand will we ever get Casey Jones as a playable?? I'd buy that DLC in a HEARTBEAT.

1. Kurai is meant to be a difficult boss. When you get the hard boss mode, she's possibly the most difficult one in the game.

2. Don't use his dash attack. He's super strong in all other areas. Once you change your play style you'll love him again.

There's a little too much dead time between when his dash attack will still process and when you're able to go into normal attacks again. I try to thwart this by using a special after a dash instead of an attack but that's not a perfect system.
Yes during my runs I always found Shadow Kurai the hardest. I mained Dontello but never used his dash attack unless I could cancel it with a Special or Tool. I also think you can dash after the damage but even that doesn't make me use it at all. With Kurai you have to focus on hit and run tactics. Get your 1-3 hits in and then get away and dodge until the next opening. With Don you have the distance as a plus giving you time to dodge and take shots. On hard it's not a short fight due to how early in the run she appears so when you are about to fight her focus on Max health and dashing her kunais and magic until you get used to her attacks. She only has 6.
