A fix for the controller issues.
Here's a possible fix for the broken controller input lots of people seem to be experiencing.

On the device you wish to use, select the game within your steam library.

First notice the "Play" button.
Now move your attention to the complete opposite side of the screen, all the way right from the play button.
You'll see a few buttons, the first being a small icon of a Cog (Gear).
Now just to the right of that, there is a small icon of a Controller.
Click the Controller icon.
Click 'next' a few times if this is your first time in this dialogue.
After the pop-ups have been clicked away, you'll then see a new button labelled "Enable Steam Input".
Click it.

And that's it. The controller input issues should now be all fixed. At least, this is what worked for me after lots of trial and error.

I tried this at someone else's suggest, and it didn't work for me at all. Hopefully others have better luck than I did.

One way that worked for me.
I clicked the green play button to start the game and immediately unplugged my mouse from the usb slot.

This worked for me. I dual boot, and the game worked fine on Windows but not Ubuntu Linux. I'll bet I had Steam Input globally enabled on Windows. Now that I enabled it for SF on Linux, I am good to go. Thank you!
