[BUG] Online play not working

The solo experience is great. Sadly, I can't play with my friend. When I pressed the button it says "You need to have a data connection in order to play online".
I have no idea what cause it.
Please help.

Collection, not connection.
Options - scroll almost to the bottom - "To access online features..." - choose "Confirm".

i can't play online coop too. i have the same message at the launch.
i have deactived my antivirus and doesn't have any firewall

I checked. The option stayed in "Confirm" but the result is still the same.

Will check in on this. As far as I know we are currently trying to finalize matchmaking parameters.

Current live builds for Apple Arcade and Nintendo Switch use room join codes. As we move towards full Steam release we want to move to matchmaking. So hold tight on that front!

Having the same problem today. I have a little info:

Nov 9, 2024.
I installed the game today and was getting 'no data conneciton'/'multiplayer servers are down'
I later realized I was still on a VPN. Disabled the VPN and it worked fine.
The problem now is my wife is on a work ship and when she tries to connect through her shared interent (with the rest of the crew) she's getting the 'no data conneciton'/'multiplayer servers are down' message. No way for her to resolve it.
Other multiplayer stuff we play is fine.

We recently released a hotfix and there is also another in the works. Are you still having issues with multiplayer?

I just received a copy of this from a friend who recently purchased the game so that we can play online together, but we can't for the aforementioned reasons. Needs a data connection, which I obviously have, doesn't work with a VPN, nor without, and data permission is confirmed.
