It's easy. Then it gets hard. Then it gets easy. Then it gets as hard as you want. It's a roguelike. (Roguelite? I still don't understand the damn difference.) Anyway. It's meant to be played over and over with different random modifiers adding different levels of difficulty and the need for flexibility using different builds. Right now there is one "path" that follows a linear story. The layout of the rooms seems to be slightly random, though this doesn't affect anything other than where things are placed, and the boss rooms are always the same. There are a few different minibosses that are randomly chosen per run; some are more of a pain than others. They are already working on future dlc, which I hope will include new run paths so there's a bit more variety. The biggest difficulty is getting a group that's leveled and skilled enough to face the hardest challenges.
Yeah, I understand the loop, played loads of rogue type games likes Halls of Torment, Gunfire Reborn, Vampire Survivors, Enter the Gungeon etc but they keep it challenging, just worried this is going to be too simple. Will have to keep scouring reviews and videos. Price seems a lot for what it is, don't want to end up losing interest and regret buying it.
1. Get your rear handed to you as you slowly progress.
2. Get to the final boss and beat that boss.
Optional path:
You unlock portal and challenge modes for minibosses and bosses that you can choose to take for bonus rewards, or pass. The challenge modes for the bosses are hard, with some being WAY harder than others. Portal challenges stack and can really up the difficulty.
Or just beat the game normally again as you've unlocked enough stuff at this point, like in Hades, that you can beat the last boss consistently until the story ends.
Its 30 bucks, if you like these games at all, get it. It has good play control, and skill is the ultimate factor of your success with all the unlocks making it easier.
That's really a toss-up even if you love the game. For me, I can play this over and over till my eyes bleed. In a week, I may be bored with it...BUT! they are already working on DLC, as this kind of game's life cycle does. And when that DLC comes out, I'll play till my eyes bleed once again. Not to mention the times in-between where I get the itch to do some runs. That, to me, is worth it.
