FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time

FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time

decisions.. (steam or switch)
oof. you know, it'll probably play better and be supported longer through steam. but it being on a nintendo handheld feels right cause the first one. i'm kinda stuck at where i should consider playing. just found out it has cross play, so that's awesome and kinda makes me worry less

i am thinking of getting it on pc, just because it might run better cuz of the more powerful hardware, and i will have the option to play it later on the steam deck

if you have or plan to get a steam deck, steam only.
if you dont want a steam deck, but want it on steam, get it for both. since cross save n all.

Yeah, cross-play *and* cross-save is a pretty good move, and one I'm surprised more games don't do. I'm going to get it on Steam myself, but might get the Switch game too just to have a physical version of it. Especially once I see what the Switch 2 is gonna be like.

had no idea it had it had cross save, lol, i thought it was so great having just cross play. that's awesome. i may double dip on sale.

yeah that's what i'm thinking. maybe pc. i might get a steam deck one day as well. especially since it seems the new Nintendo console might be the same or more money at launch. and since it has both crossplay and cross save maybe one i could get both if it goes on sale cheap enough.

PC:
+ smoother gameplay
+ mods (maybe also more content because of mods!? who knows)
+ faster patches as on console
+ u can use handheld steamdeck as well.

- if u dont have a steam deck playing for sitting on pc could be meh because it will be a controller game

Switch:
+ maybe switch 2 could handle 60 fps
+ handheld

- lawsuit trash company who hates there fanbase
- for smooth gameplay u will need a switch 2 for sure
- no mods or anything like that

heres the rules I made up for myself as to whether to buy a game on console or pc:

1. if its a single player game, get it for whatever you want, wont make a difference
2. if its an online multiplayer game, get it for pc, then you can play with friends without paying extra for online multiplayer.
3. If for any reason you already pay for console online multiplayer and don't plan on stopping anytime soon, then this also wont matter, get it for whatever you want.
4. if the game has OFFLINE multiplayer, then get it for console so that it would be easier to play with your offline friends, if you don't play games with your offline friends, then feel free to ignore this point
5. if the game is really special to you, then getting the game physically would be the best way to treasure it. Not really feasible if youre short on funds, but this particular game will be manufactured in japan for a long time so theres no rush in this case

given these rules I have to really pick and choose which games I get physically. I mainly buy Nintendo games and PS4 games physically, and even only for games I really like (unicorn overlord, half genie hero, star renegades, valkryia chronicles 4, trails of cold steel 1-4 etc) and games i want to play with my siblings (astral chain, double dragon gaiden, cuphead, dragon's crown, indivisible, etc)

I do pay for Nintendo Switch Online and I don't plan to stop so I COULD buy switch games that use online, but tbh the only switch game I have that uses online atm is Daemon X Machina. I finished that game so i don't play it online much anymore. *shrugs* But since Fantasy Life I has cross play I dont have to force myself to get the steam version to play with friends online. Im free to get this game not only for switch, but also physically! Exactly what I wanted lol

sorry for the wall of text but maybe this gave you insight as to how to buy this game. I vastly prefer physical games but it isnt feasible to buy ALL GAMES physically. It's too expensive and not all games come out physically anyway. Think of your physical game collection as your most treasured games that can also make playing local multiplayer more convenient if you need it.

hope this helps
I always prioritise PC first, because it's likely to be cheaper on PC, especially during sales. Other than that, my PC is more powerful, and if I want it portable enough to take with me or lounge around on the floor/veranda, I can use my Steam Deck to do it. If the game is exclusive to consoles, then obviously, I choose the console version, which may or may not be the physical copy.

that's kinda the only reason i was thinking switch, they has physical versions. this game might be download only though, i'm not sure. idk if anyone even releases games physical anymore, last time i bought a physical pc game was the elder scrolls collection.
PC and PS5 for me. Achievements in a long term game like this are meaningful imo, and if they don’t introduce that for the Switch 2 then I won’t buy this on Nintendo.

This game is digital only everywhere except Japan. Japan will have a physical and digital version.

Do we have any confirmation on steamdeck compatibility?? It would be nice but I don't wanna get my hopes up

I want it physical but I know for a fact it's gonna be low FPS paradise on switch

I don't own a NS so Steam it is for me. Can also play it on steam deck, but the game has full cross-play and cross-save so you have options to switch if you ever want

You are on the steam forums meaning you must buy the game on pc with no exceptions.:steammocking:
