FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time

Compared to the old fantasy life (3DS) does this have more variety in games?
I really enjoyed this series on the 3DS back in the day. Unfortunately the one downfall it had was how repetitive the crafting was, the minigame was more or less the same regardless of which type of crafting I was doing.

Has this changed?

The crafting is more or less the same for the crafting lives, with the exception of some using the left stick to stir a pot. (cook and alchemist as far as i know) Crafting is also more speed based instead of precision. Crafting more at once gives you bonus items for each one instead of the first.

For mini games the only thing that changing is the images of what you are on while the buttons you press do not change. I think for alchemy and cooking you get the spinning the analog stick mechinic that is not in carpentry or blacksmithing making those other 2 with only 2 types of button presses.

The other mini game like one is for gathering. The same thing for all gathering classes which the game named "Lifes". Except for Farming which did not do this but did it in a confusing way that i just mash the Y key on the controller to finish. Still minig, woodchopping and fishing are all rotate around until you find the sweet spot then mash Y or use your charge skill until it runs out of HP to gather.

Outside of those 4 mini games there is nothing for mini games. There are many side quests that require you to use the crafting or gathering skills then you have the Colosseum that isn't so much of a mini game as much as contained area battles that the enemy cannot run into a place it gets infinite life but stops attacking in.

Thanks folks, I'll give this a miss then. Much appreciated.

It's very much a "Make a list of things you enjoyed about the first one" and then "They removed or altered everything in that list to make it less satisfying"

the crafting more at once gives you a bonus isnt true.

it depends on how well you do during the crafting process.
if it ends only in a "done" get you just the normal amount.

a perfect gives you for example a 150% bonus. like, while you only get 10 with only a "done" get you 25 with a "perfect". 20~23 with a "great work" and 13~15 with a "good work".
edit: this counts only for materials though.

The Crafting minigame has two traits, the 'timer' per set, and how many actions in a set.
Your rating is how fast you can complete the gauge to 100%, before all the set runs out. The more 'sets' or "Turns" remaining the better the rating. This means if half the turns/set is remaining you get Great Work or Perfect depending on how this scoring is biased.

The 'timer' that counts down when a set/turn starts is the only thing affected by your skill selection and your gear that 'increases timer' so to speak. It seems to add a fixed amount of time since +15% time per set duration is small but you can stack it to make it easier to do the holds and tap without time running out.

The higher your crafting stat, the more % you gain out of each set... Being like 500-1000 points over the recommended stat level causes you to score like 54% of your gauge with a single excellent turn.

Absolutely not true.

Perfect crafting mats gives you 4 for the cost of 1. So crafting 1 Starry Lumber with a perfect gives you 4. So, Three Logs got you four lumbers.

If you were to do a mass craft of say, 5 Lumber, that would cost you 15 logs but even perfecting it will get you around.... 13 Lumber, maybe?

But if you did it one at a time you'd get 4 lumber every time, for five times. So 4x5 = 20 Lumber. You lose out on 7 lumber by mass crafting.
