Restarters Anonymous
Hi I'm Philbe (collective 'hello Philbe) and I am a chronic restarter. I cannot simply play a game and just go with whatever choices I make or learn along the way, I have the insatiable need to restart and do it better. I have been playing this game for a good bit and there it is. The itch to start again with all the new knowledge I have gained. Anyone else out there have this problem? I usually just give into it but this game only offers one save file so I can't undo it. Mostly I'm just putting this out there to be clever (and/or funny). I'm like that meme, 'I'm not going to do it.....I did it."

I can more understand that in games that have like, a choice. This game is pretty on rails, can't make a bad choice. What would you 'do better' if you restart?
I understand it for a lot of games, but what is there to restart with in this game? There are no branching paths or alternate endings. You can learn every profession and get them all to max level. What's the incentive for starting over in this?
Hi my name is Restarter and I am a restarter. Not with this game tho....:FFVheart:

There are certainly games where I can understand this way of thinking ... but not in this game. There simply are no real choices to make. The story is super linear without any real choices and the lifes are also all optional and you can decide which ones to level and rank up and which ones to ignore. And you can always just get more lifes.

So I just see no purpose in resetting just to make different choices, since you can simply make all of them anyways.
Yes, I understand the itch. The I should have done it this way. And the strange satisfaction of feeling better about my later runs not because anything really changes, but because I'm just happier playing games a second time and knowing what I'm doing.

the point is to do it again for the fun of it. i'd start a new save if i could keep my current one.

This game is so easy and the tutorial is so long it's not worth restarting I think. If you want to reset your skill tree you can do that when you unlock the guild on your island.

get sloppy. keep doing it. you'll get there.

I feel like so much was all over the place and I didn't understand why I couldn't level up my skills. While you don't have to do the main storyline to get your life skills going, it is sort of necessary to get to the next areas. I was level 20 Hunter and still having to get my Carpenter skills up. Now that I understand how the system works, I feel like I can enjoy the ride so much better. I didn't even realize how much I was leaving on the table in the Ginormarso (?) areas. I did wind up restarting which probably comes as no surprise. I am really enjoying this game.

I used to be this person. My enjoyment was suffering because of it so I got over it.

If I am understanding this correctly, it's the same as a save scummer?
sure, when I don't get the highest rating on my crafted gear I reload xd
sure I can remake(from the skill) the item later, but it doesn't hit me right when I don't get it the first time.

no. its more like...having fun going through it again.
like digging a hole for fun. after digging a big hole, you want to just dig new hole and start again from scratch.

I've thought about it, but reaching hero again and going through the story again seems kinda painful. Maybe when I forget the story, I'll play through again.
I restart all the time for games like Terraria, Ratopia and Romance of the Three Kingdoms 2. But for this game... maybe, like start gathering and crafting class right from the start.

That's.. pretty dumb for a game like this.
