Two people in my house hold have over 40 hours played on PC and Steam Deck without any crashes. So, it's not a universal issue.
that still provides no info on the setup.... i'm scrolling through these to see if i will have any crashing issues before buying the game and not having any of the details to your setup is going to make anyone who wants to offer assistance unable to help you. what type of graphics card do you have? processor? how much ram? you need to give more detailed information for people to be able to help you pinpoint a source.
this is like you hating pickles, saying there's something wrong with the burger you ordered at mcdonalds, and them asking whats wrong with it and you just tell them "i ordered a cheeseburger" and not saying the issue is you don't like pickles.
How should informations about my spec help?
Even if you have a powerful PC. There is a chance that your PC will crash.
Like when I was running the game on my PC at Max settings. Even though my PC could handle it for a time. There was issues where it did crash. Due to overheating.
So it could potentially be cooling issue. Or something else.
To trouble shoot I'd recommend you lower the settings down from High to Medium for a day just to see if the crashing no longer happens.
Waste of money
Or your graphics card manufacturer being late with a driver. Or a new bug that only affects very rare fringe cases of hardware which are almost impossible to predict. Or your install got corrupted with the latest patch, Or .. Honestly need I go on? Or shall we just call the Whaambulance for you and call it a day?
Update 1: So I went ahead and allowed the game to connect to Epic for cross save functionality like it pushes you to do and magically the crashes are not happening. So just as I figured it has nothing to do with my system or anyone's "fringe" setup. It is because this dev designed the game this way, where yes they technically give you an option if you don't want to connect to Epic the game doesn't work properly if you don't.
Update 2: Ok if I just run the game again the crash is back unless I refresh the connection to Epic by clicking the Crossplay Inspection button before playing which allows the game to refresh the connection between Steam and Epic. If you do that every time then it seems to work just fine.
Hmm sure seems to me to be a design issue not anyone's system. Seems like the devs created a game that has extremely invasive anti-cheat software and a constant need to connect and communicate with the mothership(Epic Games) and tried to make it function properly on Steam. Well they haven't done such a good job to this point.
Let's just call it what it is.
Funny. I'm not connected. My game has been running in background for about 48hrs now .. I've yet to experience a slowdown except at the start of cutscenes. I'm not saying this makes your issue invalid. It doesn't, But yelling at the devs for stuff they can't always predict isn't a productive use of your time. Instead why not try looking up other people who have had crashes and seeing what solutions they tried? Or give us some more details so we can actually try and help with your specific problem? Look I can tell you're just mad but take a deep breath and start looking for solutions rather than someone to yell at. It's nice that your crashes stopped though. It is a bit fishy that your issue stopped when you logged in to epic. But seeing as how that isn't happening for me It probably isn't what you think it is.
The assumption of malice is still an assumption and you know that they say about those hehe ..
If you have an Intel generation 13 or 14 cpu, this will happen. If you have an Nvidia card, their latest driver update causes random crashes in this game. I downloaded Intel Extreme to fix the random crashes from that, and then after Nvidia driver updated, I had to roll back to the last one to fix the crashes from that.
I no longer have random crashes. Not saying that is what is happening to you, but I am in my 60's, play all sorts of video games, I am not IT inclined, yet I grok'd this and it walked me through fixing it. Haven't had a crash since. Research pays.
