In the first you could get party members as you ranked of your life as well recruiting npcs with the same job. All the npcs here have the same attacks with one unique move while in the first they could have unique movesets to them and had two unique attacks. Then theres members like Jinx the magic teacher who is a cat but has a completely unique set of moves, spewing flames, making light pillars, dropping a giant star, etc. They even did Odin dirty removing his mercenary job.
