They probably pressed skip introduction and now have to roam the world until they stumble across basic recipies the game gives you if you if you had done the introduction
That means they'll have to buy them for like 4000 coins per recipe right? I just did the "storyline" option for each Life so was not aware you miss out on all the free stuff that way...
Otherwise, I guess just look for merchants and find ones selling alchemy recipes, there is probably a beginner merchant in the starter crafting area then a slightly higher merchant in the capital.
Idk if anyone can confirm that Alchemy could be bugged/work differently or OP is just stuck on the normal quest, in which case you just go into quest log on your weird pad (main menu) and look for the alchemy quest and track it and just follow the marker on the map.
