You can then re-equip your old gear.
Useful if you accidentally equipped an item you need for a quest to a buddy and you can’t remember which one.
Also you can't save a equipment set and then load it onto all the buddies, it only strictly ties exact items in the set that can be worn.
So if you make 20 standard armor set and make a loadout, you will only overwrite 1 out of 20 of that armor set to move onto different buddies.
You can have 50 strangeling NPCs to live in your base, so that means 50 x 6 armor slot items that will take up 1 slot in your inventory.
That's 300 slots for 50 NPCs if they all wear armor. Out of 999 total slots for armor pieces.
