Levelling Smithing alone should give some base recipes like the Leather set (uses Copper) and Iron, etc.
But if you level up to Apprentice in Mining, that's when you'll get an Iron Pickaxe and the recipe for it too. The advantage to being a Smith is that you can create a Good (or better) version of that item, superior to the reward one.
yeah i have iron crafts for tools and weapons (not did them yet) but nothing for armors :/
So i should keep leveling crafting jobs ? My gatherers are around lvl 20 and i am already having lot of variety of minerals and woods to use but only basics craft
Are you sure you don't have the Iron recipes, at Apprentice?
Edit: Just checked mine, at Apprentice, I have access to the Iron set and the Snakeskin set. I also have access to the Iron tier tools for any Smithed tools (so no Axes as these are Carpenter recipes not Smithing) without needing to level into those Lives, so I was maybe wrong on that part.
But I do also have things like the three-star Adept Miner set, which came from levelling Mining not Smithing.
even armor.
yet some recipes can only be found from shops or around the world. but those are optional at best
Well that's that thanks, i finally unlocked snake armor and a new heavy iron armor
Leveling up crafting lives gives access to new tiers of processed resources, tools, weapons, armors required to progress to the next tier. You don't get notification that you learned these recipes on rank up which may be confusing but they still appear in a list.
There are many shops that sell extra recipes especially for cooking and alchemy. Check normal shops and kitchen too (some kitchens, like in the capital appear only at night).
There are many recipes that drop from chests (in the Castle in the Ginormosia, for example).
There are legendary recipes you can find in Ginormosia on some types of totems.
There are recipes you get by deciphering certain items you find in random dungeons in post game.
There are recipes you get as rewards for doing some quests.
Most likely there are even more ways to get the recipes, but for usual progression (better tools) you just need to level up professions that can craft those tools.
Rank up - 3 armor sets per life, all tools except for few top tier in lives that can craft tools, all weapons except for few top tier in lives that can craft weapons, some foods, potions, arts, all processed resources.
There is also another source - gifts from people on your island. Sometimes you complete a quest and they give you a recipe on top of their reward. Got two recipes like this.
