How exactly do you unlock new reciepes ?
I am apprentice blacksmith and still have no new reciepe and can only do the bad beginning armor.
When i checked the palace market, the weapon vendor can sell some extremly pricy new parts but they are the same since minute 1 i landed on the island.

So how do exactly I unlock new reciepe if i can't buy them nor unlock them but leveling my job?

You should have iron level after completing the quests that require bronce or copper or whatever

If you want more recipes, you need to level up the job that uses them.
Levelling Smithing alone should give some base recipes like the Leather set (uses Copper) and Iron, etc.

But if you level up to Apprentice in Mining, that's when you'll get an Iron Pickaxe and the recipe for it too. The advantage to being a Smith is that you can create a Good (or better) version of that item, superior to the reward one.

So i should keep leveling crafting jobs ? My gatherers are around lvl 20 and i am already having lot of variety of minerals and woods to use but only basics craft

Sorry, I meant, levelling the crafting jobs should give you the basic tier recipes (Copper, Iron, Oak, Pine, etc), levelling the gathering jobs should give the recipes for their upgraded gear sets, levelling a combat job gives you the recipes for better gear and weapons - superior to the base sets.

Are you sure you don't have the Iron recipes, at Apprentice?
Edit: Just checked mine, at Apprentice, I have access to the Iron set and the Snakeskin set. I also have access to the Iron tier tools for any Smithed tools (so no Axes as these are Carpenter recipes not Smithing) without needing to level into those Lives, so I was maybe wrong on that part.

But I do also have things like the three-star Adept Miner set, which came from levelling Mining not Smithing.

Ranking up crafting jobs will unlock every important recipe.
even armor.

yet some recipes can only be found from shops or around the world. but those are optional at best

Well that's that thanks, i finally unlocked snake armor and a new heavy iron armor
Ah good, did you need to do anything special to get them to appear?

you can also get recipes in Ginormosia's random chest all over the map and from your buddys in your home base doing quest they might have.

Leveling up gathering lives gives access to new armor sets specific for that life. You get a full set as reward and also notifications that you got the recipes for them.

Leveling up crafting lives gives access to new tiers of processed resources, tools, weapons, armors required to progress to the next tier. You don't get notification that you learned these recipes on rank up which may be confusing but they still appear in a list.

There are many shops that sell extra recipes especially for cooking and alchemy. Check normal shops and kitchen too (some kitchens, like in the capital appear only at night).

There are many recipes that drop from chests (in the Castle in the Ginormosia, for example).

There are legendary recipes you can find in Ginormosia on some types of totems.

There are recipes you get by deciphering certain items you find in random dungeons in post game.

There are recipes you get as rewards for doing some quests.

Most likely there are even more ways to get the recipes, but for usual progression (better tools) you just need to level up professions that can craft those tools.

My main question is which recipes are ones that I can learn from rank up and which ones do I only get from purchasing in a shop?
The ones that are sold in shops - only from shops, so buy them when you get the money or nuts (in Ginormosia). Or at least it's hard to understand if you can get them somewhere else. I never noticed them dropping anywhere before I bought all of them so I assume you can only buy them.

Rank up - 3 armor sets per life, all tools except for few top tier in lives that can craft tools, all weapons except for few top tier in lives that can craft weapons, some foods, potions, arts, all processed resources.

There is also another source - gifts from people on your island. Sometimes you complete a quest and they give you a recipe on top of their reward. Got two recipes like this.
After each rank you gain some recipes for the next level rank. Also you can buy recipes from various vendors, not all though. Not like the first game where you get almost all each rank up, you have to actively look for them this time. Also as you go through the main story you unlock new areas for higher levels.
