You could spend as many hours as you want.
I didn't play the 3DS one but my brother liked it a lot, and I'm really liking this one.
So the game is bigger than the initial 3ds game, but things have been streamlined this also makes it easier to grind your levels up or swap life as you no longer need to go back to town every time you want to change life removing redundancies.
But take Pokémon beating the league is one metric, filling the Dex, is another metric, finally filling the Dex with pure variations of shiny is a 3rd metric.
People with 1000s of hours have likely been replying the game several times and done challenge runs of some sort of the original
But if we are comparing it to the original is it a very faithful successor I'm 20 hours into the game and I barely feel like I've scratched the surface.
I likely won't leave before I achieve 100% completion which at my current rate I suspect will take more than 100 hours ^_^
As those 100 hours likely doesn't account for chill time and just making your town look nice and all that jazz
If you aren't into that sort of game or prefer action-based that challenge your limits or reaction times, then you might have trouble getting into this game. The intro is definitely a bit slow but it picks up a good amount of speed once you get a full party that can fight or gather alongside you.
If you are hesitant, you can always wait a few weeks when the game fully releases and reviews are more common. Or wait even longer for the eventual discount sales. Overall, it's a great game that does its best to improve aspects from the first game.
and most of your handheld games are emulated on pc.
so your choice stare at a tiny screen or stare at a big screen with out the chance of your battery going flat
