Easy Anti Cheat isn't that bad
I may get a lot of negative comments from this post but in my several years of playing with easy anti-cheat active in several games i play or used to play, i have never once come across a "hacker" who has gotten access to my system. I've seen a couple posts from community members saying how it's a backdoor for hackers to access your system however not once have i had an issue with such a thing. Of course i am by no means a pc expert on why it is bad or needs to be shunned, i just know from my own personal experience, nothing bad has ever come of using the EAC.

I feel like a lot of issue around the anti cheat itself is just the fact it takes up space on your computer and not the actual anti-cheat itself as bloatware but if someone can provide me factual evidence and references to why it is actually bad i would love to learn in the comments and will ignore any bad/targeted hate comments posted in my forum.

Not a single one of my friends who tell me "Kernel Level anti Cheat is bad" haas been able to provide mee factual evidience of why it is bad or explained properly to me what the deal with it is besides the "it takes up space on your computer" argument
"I've never been in a car accident, clearly car accidents aren't really a problem." That's the argument you're making here.

Kernel-level software like this basically opens an internet connection to the deepest parts of your computer, making it much easier for a hacker to just bypass your security measures.
Is this guaranteed to happen? No, of course not. But you still wear a seatbelt in the car.

You’re comparing a life ending situation to a program that has potential access to your computer. I have had these programs for years and have never once had an issue. Can you please direct me to a source or reference of your claim so I can learn how it actually works.

As I said in my post. I’m looking for evidence not claims

just because it hasnt happend YET doesnt mean it CAN'T happen.
for example, it took years before the SWATTING "prank" to kill someone.
people kept saying dont do it because it CAN and eventually WILL kill someone.

a few years later it did.

OK, but what about Steam Deck and people who game on Linux? It might just never be playable. I just don't understand how a cozy, non-competitive and mostly single-player game needs anti-cheat at all.

I litterally had to factory reset my PC this week and reinstall everything from scratch because a game didnt disclose they had EAC on it and one of guys that i ended up in match with got salty because i was doing better than him. and haced into my system and by the way EAC is mnore anti piracy than anti cheat thats why it keeps ports open to constantly communicate with the developer so they can see what systems its installed on and see if its a duped product key. but they removed all my file permissions on everything and even the administrator profile had 0 permissions.

This is basically what I came to say.
I am now just catching up with this. For me it is ok. this is for better game play I think
Already have EAC installed from some other game and never bothered to get rid of it. It's not gonna do squat to my PC and people here are just being paranoid banjaxers. :AngryBoguin:

1 their other games are playable on those platforms
2 Linux has less of a playerbase then Mac. Nobody cares about Linux and it shows.

You are still spamming this with zero evidence it even happened. Much less if it has anything to do with you actually playing the game and getting hacked from it.

For all you or anyone else knows you could have been looking up some inappropriate content and downloading said content from bad sites.

So until you have proof all you are doing is slandering. You are doing the equivalent of "look at me guys I caught a fish thiiiiiissssssss big"

Edit: judging by the amount of games you own (85 lol) I think it's highly likely that you got the virus from doing something you were not supposed to be doing.
