A tip on finding Strangelings and Pettlewings Woods Shrine
This'll be a bit obvious to some but I'd thought I'd give advice on finding Strangelings. I'd say around at least 38-40 of them are found via Ginormosia. 20 through Shrines, 5 through Base camp Quests (Haven't done all base camp quests but the 3 I've done they've granted a strangeling), and the rest through Teal/light blue chests that can be found throughout the world and occasionally after killing elites/bosses/mimics. Once you found all the strangelings that are in the chest pool, you'll start getting small amounts of Celestia's gift which is used to transform them back.
You will need about around 300-400 power woodcutting/Mining to finish the shrines, additional crafting stats to finish the quests, some basic memory or video recording abilities, and the ability to take on a level 45 dragon. (which was easy enough for me as an adept blacksmith). Note that some of these tasks might be easier if you have the right companions with you so you could do it with less levels. Tower levels don't effect finding anything any shrines or quests.

Finally I must note on how to get Pettlewings Woods Shrine. No, you don't have to do the nearby quests. No you don't have to get all the Mokokos in the Area. No it isn't in the general region like the others. You must go into the area Pettlewings Forest that is in North/NorthEast of the region. After you traverse, you'll encounter an area similar to "Strange Woods." Instead of looking for the side playing music, it's a simple matter of going to the middle and viewing which side the statue is facing. Then proceed to go down that side. For me, it was Left, Right, Left.

I will urge people to do these before leveling the Artisan Lives as the followers are a huge boost to crafting. The gathering/combat followers are okay, but one is combat which is easy enough and the other sometimes messes up your Excellent Gathering. Before Ginormosia, by chapter 6 section 10, I had like 3 combat strangelings, around 2 mining, 1 farming, 1 fishing strangeling, and 1 carpentry, 1 Artistry strangeling. Suffice to say I was struggling with getting good results with artisan skills and avoided them except for carpentry.

I avoided the Lv.50 combat temples, but gave a try at the Gathering Challenge with my 216 Woodhunter. Cleared it on the lasting 10 seconds. No woodcutter strangeling.

But I'm puzzled about the relationship. Is it better to take the artisans on adventures or just chat and gift them?

Can anyone else confirm if other types of buddies other than artisans, provide buffs/sp restore during gathering activities?
There seem to be some that just exist on the Overworld, too. I'm not sure if it's one per area, but I've found one (broom) in the starting area on a random cliff, and another (pumpkin) in the farming field in Veridia Plains. Not sure if the other half of the desert has one; I haven't been able to find them.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
