FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time
The game doesn't allow multiple saves???
When I got the game I let my son played. Now he's in bed and I want to create a new character of my own. Choose new game and was prompted with this.

Like seriously. Are we limited to just 1 character per purchase? For an offline game in 2025?? I understand on Switch you can simply change profile but then what do we do on PC?

Steam has different profiles. You could try that. Though that would mean having your son start over on his own free Steam account.
The game have Family Share enable
try backing up your folders?

I tried switching Steam account on the same PC. The game save still shows up so it's shared somehow

I tried removing both of these and the save still shows up in game.
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Game
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\LocalLow\LEVEL5 Inc_

I couldn't find anything else anywhere. Looked through C:/ProgramData but nothing.

I'm just ready to refund now honestly. Better grab the switch version instead if changing player is this troublesome.

make another account on your pc, have your son or yourself login to that account and play.

Thing is. Our family of 4 has been sharing games on my single Steam account for almost 10 years with no problem. I'm not going to start creating more accounts just for 1 game.

One day my kids will be big enough to create their accounts on their own but that will be another 5 or 6 years at least.

have you tried to move the save file called "002DAE74-00-gamedata.bin" out of it's folder from \Program Files (x86)\Steam\UserData\"yourID"\2993780\Remote\002DAE74-00-gamedata.bin

after that you can make a new save and just switch them whenever different person plays

honestly I wouldnt get the switch version, as you have to pay to upgrade to the switch 2 version if you ever get that, albeit its only another $2.50, imagine having to pay more for each of your games every time you upgrade your PC.... Plus per reviews on YT it looks and runs a lot worse on nintendo then steam.

Through personal experimentation, this is the file path that worked for me.
Anyone know if doing the save swap in and out, do you gotta disable cloud saves first? I don't want to lose any save with cloud save overwriting or something.
I would like to know that too.
I have sunk 60 hours into the game since I bought it and know that I'd like to stream it at some point. But am not willing to lose all the work I have put in, if Cloud save ♥♥♥♥♥ it up.
Just back it up with 7zip or winrar the 2993780 folder. You have to backup/ extract outside of the game, it can't be up or it won't work, in the main menu the save has already been loaded which kind of makes adding more saves harder for them. Usually on the main menu you could load your backup you extracted but not for this game. Edit: you can back it up when the game is being played, just extracting it won't work.
