FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time

It took me roughly 18 hours to beat the game. Some thoughts
A speedrunner can definitely beat it in 10 or less.

Anyways the reason it took so long was that I did the sapling dungeon, and I afk a lot while eating (leaving the game on).

Also messed a lot with the lives. Got ranger to expert and miner, angler, woodcutter, farmer are not behind (1 below expert).

I could get the ranger to master as soon as I get rid of some debris so I’m not slacking in that regard either.

Anyways is the game short? Answer is no not really. If you wanna master every class (to hero), then you definitely have quite a bit of hours to do in the game. Will it hit 100 hours? If going at my pace probably not. Casually? Definitely.

Did I skip any story? I skipped every story that was already featured in their youtube channel. And the farmer because I didn’t like the characters. The story was fully watche albeit in fast auto advanced.

Is there still a ton I have to do after I bear the game? Hell yeah, I have all the classes to master like I said, and the open world is barely touched so there’s a lil bit to do there. There is also a couple post game quests that probably will take most of my time.

Biggest con for me is a non-issue for most people. The combat is lacking honestly, I was killing quetzal at level 10 and level 60 nap dragon at 20. It’s.. that easy, however I was struggling with the gathering classes lol. So where I excel and lack might be balanced for most people.

Overall very good game, I think it’s a good improvement over the first game. I don’t like the easier crafting but it’s whatever, and the changed to fishing is also.. terrible imo. (Especially when my character spams their voiceline over and over like I’m watching some nsfw video)

9/10 would recommend.

I have played it for 8 hours and am still in chapter 1 before even getting back to the present. But in return I ranked up all Lifes (except for the 2 locked ones), meaing now I am forced to ride the dragon, since I have nothing else left to do.
How about building and design? Did you try and was it fun ?

That’s the next goal, since I need to 5 star the island anyway. My crafters were not built at all so I left it for last. I made my island flat with a bunch of water here and there so there’s that atleast.

Imo it’s a better way to customize the landscape of the island compared to animal crossing, but you also get less land to compensate I guess? Unless it expands later on who knows.

no idea how you did that in 18 hours. I'm at 14 hours and I still feel pretty early (and most my lifes are still fledgling, the first stage)

I watched every video possible, and I am also a veteran of the first game.

Yep so I had a basic understanding of what their short life story is. And I knew which ones to skip.

Not even that far but as much as I'm enjoying the game, I also can't help but feel for whats missing gave the original so much of its character, like all the life based npcs that you used to have to speak to for missions and gifts. Now the master just shoves a new weapon in your hand and a full task list, it makes all the npcs feel more like set dressing then a world of people with their own interactions.

I'm not a huge fan of basically levelling everything separately with no separate skills and stats, like do you even get bonuses for ranking up anymore? It doesn't seem like it, just for levelling, which you can do for any life picking herbs (boosted fishing to 10 just to make it marginally more tolerable)

The gathering lives changes are a huge miss besides the number bloat this game starts with vs the originals every point mattered, they all amount to mashing now. No rhythm of the nodes, no struggle against epic fish.

Why is sprint even a button with no SP drain and no skill, literally an analog stick can do they same and it was intended for controllers anyway.

Oh and the combat lives having mostly the exact same targets. Including boss level ones. Rather then magicians going for more magicy critters and merc going for dinosaurs while paladins done dragons and hunters done wild beasts. They clearly missed the point of that.

I just think so much character has been lost, like the devs behind this didn't actually get the design philosophy of the first one. Though I will thank them for moving attack and gather to different buttons, that was so annoying in the first.

Its an enjoyable game but its just been flattened a bit too much, far beyond modern convenience. See how I feel after the end, I'm dubious how discovering new areas will feel, like going to port puerto for the first time or the land of the Dark sultan...or a floating island..and then literal space with god on a farming platform where our world was nothing but a fruit of a tree (Kinda surprised they didn't make this a different nut world to be honest, that was so ripe for picking) then some ancient land through a magically door (which weird now seems to be the theme of so many things on this island..I'm wondering how they explain that). I can't see how that kind of discovery is going to fit in this game, like you can see the old lands on the map which is nice but I get the feeling we don't go there.

Just the intro, in this game. They ask if you wanna skip the intro of the life after the first one.

I skipped everything that was in the level5ch cause they posted the whole intro there anyway. Well watched it in my own time.

And then there are no more quests/story about the job so far. Until expert, which is really a bummer.
