Woodcutting help pls
im having trouble understanding how to get excellent with trees and normally its not that hard to get it after throwing myself at them for long enough but with the great trees Im having zero luck. So can anyone teach me the strategy as the game doesnt tell us?

Think it's just a case of big numbers for brrr. I've had a sliver left got a sweet and it's not excellent.

It's a shame the smaller tighter numbers felt way better in the original. Like a single point in a stat would feel like a good difference, number bloat loses that.
You need to basically Overkill the tree. Get it to a sliver of health and hit it with a Heavy, but ideally with a Charged Attack or Skill.

Excellent is just overkill. My suggestion is to rush the charge attack on every gathering class. It’s usually on left side.

yeah I forgot I posted this but I thought about it right after and yeah the solution was the charge attack. I guess for gathering its based off how either fast or little attacks you do to it.

Thats what I thought it was for awhile but I believe its both that and how fast you can destroy it (and/or) how little hits it takes.

1. use better axe (maybe you still using "rented" one?)
2. get it as low health as possible and use heavy or charged or skill attack (if you unlocked it on skilltree)
3. find lower level tree... maybe 3-4 level lower than you.

Nope, speed doesn't matter, even when you can one shot them, when you just barely deal enough dmg you won't get it. The only thing that matters is the overkill dmg. I think you need like 10-20% overkill dmg.

Oh gotcha that would make sense I was using the heavy attack at the very end but it wasnt enough until I got the charge attack I wish they would clarify that but hey didnt take long to think it through. I really needed it for the quest otherwise I wouldnt care and just move on to the next level of materials to gather.
