Say, you have a game where Steamcharts 1 active player throughout the week. But if it is that every hour that player stops and then just one new player plays, and nobody plays the game for more than once during the week, then there would be 24x7= 168 different players who played despite Steamcharts only showing 1 player at a time.
Not sure how Husk got it to 30K though.
However you can make a very rough estimate from the steamchart graph too, if you have an average playtime to use.
700 average players per day.
Each player plays for an average of 3 hours.
24 / 3 = 8 cycles of unique players.
700 * 8 = 5600 unique players per day.
5600 * 7 days = 39200 players per week.
Obviously various factors can influence that result greatly. Not all players will play a match and some players will play for many days.
Even with the direct data, I can't say exactly how many unique players there are per week, 30K was perhaps an underestimation, but you can see how many there are every 2 weeks.
If you get the attention of big streamers or youtubers, you could easily get the playerbase up.
*Laptops* not compooters
Fine I ll make a BNL vid to get y'all some players
@op
Block N Load doesn't need more players, more players neeed Block N Load
However, you did not consider the return rate of those 30k. Out of those 30k, how many players are willing to stay/return?
I am not entirely sure on EU, but on NA, barely any of those "unique" players return and play the game.
Also,
1400-1800 players in a 5v5 online game is considered extremely low player base. Supposed everyone is in casual mode, then that translates to around 140-180 active matches. It seems a lot. However, I do not believe that is the case as there are customs, afk, time assault, and map editor people, and queue. You factor those in, it will no longer be 140-180 matches (With more than 70% of those 140-180 games occuring in EU). It will be 14-18 active matches with ~50 people waiting in queue. Personally, for an online game to be "alive", I should be getting match ups with different players, not with the same players. Again, this is on NA. Not sure on the EU side.
This is just my estimation. I might be extremely wrong on this one. However, for me, 10 minute queue time and playing against the same players everytime is a pretty dead game for me. That being said, I still enjoy this game a lot.
