Game crashes when loading a mission

If your game crashes when you first load missions, this can be caused by out of date drivers. Please make sure you update any graphic drivers to the latest versions.
For Nvidia cards go to - http://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-uk
For AMD cards go to - http://support.amd.com/en-us/download#

Game displays in the wrong resolution

If your game is being displayed in an incorrect resolution please try the following.
Hold down the "Left Alt" key when loading the game through your steam library. This will cause the configuration window to open. Change the resolution to your preference.

Right click the desktop

Click on Nvidia Control Panel

Click Manage 3d settings

Under 1. Select a program to customize , click on add.

Find ess.exe (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\European Ship Simulator)

Click on ess.exe and click on add selected program

Under 2. Select the preferred graphics processor for this program,
Select high-performance nvidia processor.

Click apply.

It would appear that some of those who are having issues have both Intel HD and an Nvidia Card/onboard Graphics. However ESS is only picking up the default card which in many cases would only be in intel HD rather than the Nvidia card. We are currently investigating this further but the above should fix the issue.

I have done those already but still cannot play the game due to game froze up when I start a mission. If GeForce GTX 780M does not make this game work I don't know what does.

Lets hope that tomorrows update fixes this, otherwise Idk what else to do with the game.

I have the same issue, when I start a mission the screen freezes and the game crashes. I tried this but it didn't help me. Could you tell me what to do, please?

All the best,

Captain Zee Nov 28, 2014 @ 9:33am
So I thought I was having the same problem as the rest of the Nvidia card users, since that is what kind of card I have. But it's the only card I have, there's no onboard graphics.

When I first bought the game last week and started it up, both the Passenger Ferry and Bulk Carrier missions would give me terrible framerates. I didn't even try the tug mission. Instead I went straight here to see if any one else had the same problem. As it turned out, a lot of Nvidia card users were having issues. So I decided to wait.

On release of todays update, I tried again. This time starting with the Fishing Boat mission. It worked fantastically, with an average 40 fps! There was some stuttering upon leaving/entering the port, but it was playable, and a lot of fun. I completed that mission, went to the Ferry mission. Back to 5-10 fps. Then I tried the Carrier mission, ~15 fps. The tug mission worked fine, until I started pulling the Carrier, then it went to ~20 fps whenever I looked at the freighter.

TL;DR I get worse and worse framerate the larger the ship. Is this a problem I can fix, or a bug?

EDIT: Speccy says:

OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
RAM: 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 399MHz
Graphics: 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 630

Good news everybody...

We now believe we have solved the issues with the majority of intel/NVidia laptops and also some other crashes.
For those who have been experiencing issues, please download the latest version. You may need to restart Steam in order to update the game.

If you do run into any issues, please let us know at the usual place.
Hopefully it is now ALL AHEAD FULL.

Please make sure you do the following though –

- Open the NVidia Control panel (right click on your desktop and select this from the menu)
- Go to “manage 3D Settings” and then to the “Program Settings” tab
- Select the ess.exe file from the drop down menu (you may need to add this using the “add” button)
- In section 2 please select the option “High-performance NVIDIA Processor”
Happy sailing

Yes we should have that option when It comes to early access games we buy thsee In good faith I wouldn't want my money bac but a steam credit would be good as we could put this towards another game.
