Does anyone have a solution?
Incredibly useful application for older games!
To disable the graphics card (temporarily) go to device manager and right click on your graphics card entry and select "disable". Reverse the process to enable graphics card again.
I hope this helps others who struggle with this game. I had it sitting in my library for over a year and so help was not easy to come by if you get my drift.
Have you tried DxWnd? It works wonders for many older games, well worth installing.
alt + enter to activate windowed mode then click same for full screen
I opened the link you posted, downloaded it and opened the folder. I clicked on all .exe files but I didn't find any installer. There was one called "dxwnd.exe" that appeared to be the program I was looking for. It looks like an emulator with a white screen and a menu on the upper left side. I clicked on "Import...", went to the folder of this game, but it didn't recognize any file, because none of them are .dxw, so I switched it to "All Files" on the bottom right corner. I've tried to open the .exe of the game and it didn't work
Yes. I've tried it both on my pc and laptop. Nothing changes and I'm forced to press the turn on/off button because the windows key didn't respond
Just drag & drop "Empress of the Deep 632.exe" from the game folder into the white space and untick "Run in Window" > ok, then doubleclick the icon that appeared.
Did exactly what you said, and even tried to mess with the settings, but unfortunately it still didn't work. The only window I saw was when I pressed the windows key and dragged the mouse on top of the game icon on the task bar. When I clicked on it though, the game goes back to the black screen with the sound.
I also tried the windows compatibility center, but that didn't solve the problem either
