Windows 10.
Does this game work on Windows 10 1903?
I have the BigFish game version & that opens but then I have no video/just a black screen but I hear the audio so I can’t start the game.
Was wondering if this was the same.
Thanks.

I'm getting the same, build 18362. Kills the display, not even switching to a different desktop helps, tried setting xp compatibility but does't work.
Does anyone have a solution?

Actually did get it to work after fiddling a bit of with DxWnd (https://sourceforge.net/projects/dxwnd/), even in full screen mode.

Incredibly useful application for older games!

My workaround was to alt + enter to activate windowed mode then click same for full screen.
I am having the same issue but neither of those solutions worked for me.

I had great difficulties getting this game to work ... In the end I had to DISABLE my graphics card and let the Windows default drivers run the game without anything special from my card. (A kind of safe mode environment for the game.)

To disable the graphics card (temporarily) go to device manager and right click on your graphics card entry and select "disable". Reverse the process to enable graphics card again.

I hope this helps others who struggle with this game. I had it sitting in my library for over a year and so help was not easy to come by if you get my drift.

I had the same problem. Nothing worked until I disabled my graphics card. For those who don't know, to find your graphics card go to Device manager- display adaptors- double click on the name that appears- Click on Driver on the top row- click disable

I'm having the same problem. I've tried going to Properties -> General -> Set Launch Options, write "-windowed -w 1024" and launch the game, but it didn't work. I've also tried other commands similar to the one that I attempted, but nothing worked. If anyone knows a command that works for this game, please write it down below. Thanks

Have you tried DxWnd? It works wonders for many older games, well worth installing.

I opened the link you posted, downloaded it and opened the folder. I clicked on all .exe files but I didn't find any installer. There was one called "dxwnd.exe" that appeared to be the program I was looking for. It looks like an emulator with a white screen and a menu on the upper left side. I clicked on "Import...", went to the folder of this game, but it didn't recognize any file, because none of them are .dxw, so I switched it to "All Files" on the bottom right corner. I've tried to open the .exe of the game and it didn't work

Yes. I've tried it both on my pc and laptop. Nothing changes and I'm forced to press the turn on/off button because the windows key didn't respond

Just drag & drop "Empress of the Deep 632.exe" from the game folder into the white space and untick "Run in Window" > ok, then doubleclick the icon that appeared.

Did exactly what you said, and even tried to mess with the settings, but unfortunately it still didn't work. The only window I saw was when I pressed the windows key and dragged the mouse on top of the game icon on the task bar. When I clicked on it though, the game goes back to the black screen with the sound.
I also tried the windows compatibility center, but that didn't solve the problem either

I know this is an old post/thread, but I wanted to say "thank you" for this info! I was having trouble launching another game in a similar manner, and DxWnd worked like a charm to finally get it playable for me. So, thank you!!
