Blood: One Unit Whole Blood

Blood: One Unit Whole Blood

Launch NBlood Through Steam?
Has anyone been able to get NBlood to launch via Steam?
I tried renaming the nblood.exe to dosbox.exe, but I get this error when I boot it up:

source/blood/src/blood.cpp(1100): Invalid argument: -conf

Anyone know what this is all about? If I just launch the exe directly it runs fine.

That's because Steam launches Blood with a few DOSBOX parameters and arguments which NBlood does not recognize.

I tried to get the devs attention regarding this to see if they could tweak the binary for us but I got no reply. Maybe if you add in a reply (and like/retweet) it'll do the trick? :steammocking:

Hey, thanks for the reply!
I guess it's pretty early into its development anyway, so makes sense.
I'd help you out there, but I avoid Twitter like the plague.

BloodGDX has a fake DOSBox.exe just launching the JAR file, there could be something like that for NBlood (or just ignoring launching params :P)

This should do it https://drive.google.com/open?id=1c5jNo2_heSMY-RBS770Jv2B8SJ9EeeTu or http://www.fast-files.com/getfile.aspx?file=192778 extract it and drop it on the same directory where nblood.exe and dosbox.exe are localized, it's basically a .bat with some parameters converted to .exe format with bat to exe converter.

Use this to edit launch option. Remove all of the launch option to stop nBlood from giving you an error.

Managed to get it working, including the overlay and screenshot taking.

- Create a text file, type "nblood.exe" (sans quotes) in it, save it as whatever.bat.
- Go to this page[www.f2ko.de], upload the file, choose 32 bit/invisible, save the result as dosbox.exe.
- Replace the dosbox.exe in Steam's Blood folder.
- Windows Defender might throw a warning since the EXE size is so suspiciously small, simply choose "more info" -> "run anyway" and it won't bother you again.

EDIT: some clarification.

Thanks, but I just got a reply on twitter from Butane here, and it also works perfectly, I've literally just tested it right now:

Yeah that would work too, but keep in mind that Steam updates the game configurations periodically, so that's only a temporary solution.

Hm, I'll see what happens. If it breaks, I'll try it your way, thanks!

Yeah, the exe is compressed with UPX and it's causing a lot of false positives. It's annoying me too. Would be nice to have a better alternative.

Still, you can tell Windows Defender to make an exception (open Windows Defender -> history -> restore).

If you download the Bat to Exe program instead of using the online converter, you can disable the UPX compression; we don't get a false positive that way.

Hey, this worked. Thanks for the tip!

Here's a mini-guide[i.imgur.com] + download link[www.f2ko.de] for the program.
