Dark Sector & General Legacy Physx Driver Fix
The new Physx driver does not contain the old Physx files/Version Number so when you start the game it cant find the files and wont start. Try uninstalling the current Physx and reinstall and using the driver below, At the time of making this post this is working for me.

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/physx/9_12_1031/physx-9-12-1031-legacy-driver/ as it uses an older PhysX you need to manually install the legacy driver.

I don't get what you did. I can't even complete step one because I have no idea where to find the PhysX driver. Can you lend some help?

Go to where steam is installed on your hardrive C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam, look in the Steam folder for the "Steamapps" folder and open it up, You should then see a folder called "common" open that and you should see your installed games, scroll down to Dark Sector open the folder and you should see the default Phyxs driver that came with the game. If you unistall the Nvidia Physx driver and just run the game, It should install the legacy anyway. you will then have the old AGEIA Technologies Physx driver installed this can be found here C:\Program Files (x86)\AGEIA Technologies

I recently got Dark Sector and was having problems, then found this and it helped. I can now play Dark Sector. I am using a laptop that has Nvidia graphics card already installed, will that mess anythuing up? so far everything seems to be running fine.

Should be fine just when it comes to updating the GPU driver unistall the Physx driver and delete the left over physx folder to get rid of the left overs before doing the update, Otherwise the driver may have an issue installing over the Ageia files but after that you can just redo the fix again.

you have to uninstall the physx driver first then let the game install its own legacy Physx driver, then pull the files v2.3.1-v2.8.1 out of C:\Program Files (x86)\AGEIA Technologies or C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\PhysX\Engine. then uninstall the legacy, install the latest Nvidia and copy the files from the legacy into C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\PhysX\Engine. I use this fix all the time works on just about every old legacy Physx game that uses the old legacy AGEIA Technologies or Nvidia Physx driver

If its just this game your trying to get running then just uninstall the Nvidia Physx driver and run the game that will then install the legacy driver and the game should run, If you want to merge it with the current Nvidia driver you copy/backup the files v2.3.1-v2.8.1 from the installed legacy driver and then remove the lagacy driver, install the Nvidia Physx and then copy the old legacy into the Nvidia driver.
