Fatal Error Load Error

Flatout 2 crashed while I was playing it and when I attempted to restart it (after restarting my computer) I simply get an error that reads "Fatal Error Load Error". Two subsequent uninstalls and reinstalls haven't fixed the problem. Neither has checking the file integrity. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Try patched "FlatOut2.exe" instead of original one: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=753690007
It is workaround solution. It will not fix this problem, but game might start working at least. Worth to try.

I looked online (outside of steam) and someone suggested deleting the options file in the game. This solved the problem. I simply had to go into options to set up my preferences again. The rest of the game data was still saved.

Perhaps you have already fixed it, but if not, you should go to the game folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\FlatOut 2) and right click flatout2.exe, go to properties and go to compatibility, and select Run this program in compatibility mode for: and put Windows XP (Service pack 3)

I actually did manage to fix it already. I found the solution online. After deleting the options file (which contained control settings, music settings etc.) it worked again. I didn't even lose my game progress.
