Can't play multiplayer - even LAN????

just bought this. i know the game is old, but i can't seem to connect even on the Lan multiplayer?
Is there a fix?

i had the same problem when i played lan. My solution was that only one of the pc's was able to host the game, the another not. Just try some times.

Deactivate all network cards (including VirtualBox Host Only Ethernet adapter) except the right one worked for me.
