Stuck at the crypt

Been reading guides but I can't investigate Nathaniel's coffin to get the key.
I read in a thread that you don't get a key this way anymore and you find it inside the house after returning from the crypt with a storm outside.
However the weather remains the same as I exit the crypt after inspecting William's coffin. There's no rats in the kitchen so I can't use the sledgehammer in the basement. I'm stuck and I don't know what I need to do in or before the crypt in order to trigger the weather outside.

I'm almost certain I've gotten every document and item and so far every achievement along the way so I'm annoyed af to get stuck NOW..

I'm not able to open Nathaniel's coffin. Been standing there for a long time looking for a spot to drag it down but No success. I cant find anything specific in that guide either before the crypt that i havnt done already.

I can't say about this key, played too long ago. But most guides cover original game, while this Director's Cut edition is different in some aspects.

I can't interact with the second coffin like the video shows. And what he did in the house before going to the crypt is also already done so it SHOULD work but it doesn't.

I've noticed that in the beginning of the game it didn't update things as I played, like the secret elevator in the old building or weather effects until i went to main menu and back in, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was yet another bug if I've already experienced some along the way.. Will try again tonight. :/

I went thru the documents in my inventory again today after a 24h break. This time the letter from Nathaniel was at 0/4 clues from last nights 4/4. Did it again and then all of sudden I was able to click on the coffin! So was indeed a stupid bug.

I was going to mention it had to be an old clue.... I saved ALOT I was about to try to help, glad you got it.
