GTX970 has problems over that much VRAM usage. Might be the culprit.
same SSD 850pro
i have a 990fx chipset ASUS board
also have corsair ven ram
have an MSI 960 2gb
have amd CPU (8320 @ 4.51ghz)
I7 3770k, gtx 1070, 32gb ddr3, ssd's, win 10..... on a sesame seed bun lol.
OP says it is always 20-30fps. On that system it should run at 60 with drops to 25-30 (not sure about that, but AMD is generally worse than i5/i7). But the max fps when there are no enemies should be 60fps or more (I get up to 90fps with my 970 in 1080p and vsync off).
Might worth to try in 1920*1080. GTX 970 has its limits.
Do you have dual-channel memory?
As a general rule: update your graphics drivers and set vsync to "fast" in NV Control Panel. And if you have the option in NV panel set on for optimize for compute performance or something like that (sorry don't know the English name for that setting) then set to off. It breaks game performance (for example in Fallout 4).
It's now playable BUT these fps drops during combat shouldn't be acceptable in a combat game!
Hopefully we'll get a performance update eventually.
