I do however have rampant motion sickness in many FPS games and even some 3rd person games (Just Cause 2, Spec Ops The Line were a couple in the era before Steam refunds I'm stuck with but can't really enjoy).
Of late though I can enjoy Killing Floor 2, Bethesda's Doom and even to some extent the Battlefield 1 beta without motion sickness issues. I passed on Alien Isolation, it just seemed to scream out "motion sickenss" without even trying it.
I'm excited about Deathwing but can't really say from videos whether it would be fun or a vomitorium for me on the motion sickness side.
But at least with the Steam refund policy now, we can extract ourselves from a motion sickness-causing title within the refund time owned/played limitations.
I forgot to mention that Vermintide -- while I loved the concept -- was another one that caused me severe motions sickness. A pal had gifted it to me, and I think that was before the Steam refund policy.
I'm happy I can enjoy KF2 (nearing 80 hours) with no motions sickness issues. I don't think it has a noticeable "weapon bob" or "head bob." My other theory is FPS games with a sort of "gliding movement" when you move -- most Source games are like that -- make me ill. Whereas some where you move with more of a "step by step" movement, light impact with each foot step, seem to work better for me.
It's sad for me, been an issue of some sort going back to Wolfenstein in 1993.
Lot of FPS titles I've powered through motion sickness as much as I could (Doom, Half-Life, System Shock 2, among others) because I knew the game was special and motion sickness be darned, I wanted to play those games as much as I could bear to. :)
Anyway, I'll keep my fingers crossed on this one, and like I blathered, the Steam refund policy at least gives us motion sickness sufferers a margin for error. :) And I always go for Steam wallet refunds so I can throw it another game.
Its sickness actually. You should search on the internet and maybe you will understand that some games can cause nausea and even vomit to some guys because of that. Its not a joke thing.
It has nothing to do with whinning or anything. At least not for some people with that real problem.
Repeat this step for a week and you should be able to gradually increase your playtime, to the point of not having to take any motion sickness pills and still be able to play. At least, this worked for me. I can't watch movies like Cloverfield or any sort of POV movies (Blair Witch I'm looking at you), and many video games included. However, I did this system for playing Left for Dead back in the day and it worked so well that after a week of meds I didn't need them anymore. Of course your results will vary and you have to stick with the plan. It's been a year or more since I played Left 4 Dead and I'd have to repeat the whole system again if I wanted to play it now. I do not have this issue playing Evolve, interestingly, but every game is different.
Uhm, no , not really.
I didnt ever have any problem with motion sickness in any game, until I played Alien Isolation, which is due to Head Boobing, and many other guys got the same problem.
And looking at the movement here, just asking if the movement can cause it because its very similar.
Yeah I know some guys got this sickness with every fps, and Im aware of that, but Im asking only about the other fact: the guys which can play every game without problems except the ones wirh Head Boobing or similar effects.
Tinkering with beta today wanted to chime in:
*No motion sickness for me in the tutorial at all.
*Game Options includes a drop down menu for "head bob." You can set it to low, but disabling it entirely is not an option. Honestly so far I don't really see the difference between low and the default medium. But at least it's something they thought about.
or go watch a YouTube video that is 1080p/60FPS or better.
Make it full-screen and see if it's something NOT for you.
To be honest, it has the feel of a typical FPS, like DOOM (2016)
I set fov to max (90) and head bob to low.
I played the tutorial and got motion sickness from only that.
Refunded already. I will try again if they get it fixed.
I can't believe developers these days prefer to not add such a not complicated option rather than win a huge amount of dollars.
