Melta guns anyone?
So, looking at the weapon selection, I haven't seen anything melta based, kind of a shame as they always look so cool.

That's because Terminators don't use meltas outside of rare multi-bolters.

Edit: Sorry, I obviously meant Combi-Bolters.

And I would like to see such multi-bolters in the game.

Who knows, maybe we will in a future update. I certainly hope they're planning to support the game with plenty of post-release content.

It is either multi-melta or combi-bolter... pick one. ;)

combi bolters ** . and terminators use chain fists as melta weapons on a spaceship is kinda dangerous. they are made to punch through armour.

This restriction has nothing to do with boarding a ship, at this point it must be asumed that the different systems are simply not compatible to some degree. Yet given we have PlasCas that might change in future iterations.
As for stuff that punches through other stuff, the entire arsenal of the Terminators is made of such tools; once you deploy a Terminator Squad you have long stoped caring about "collateral damage".

Once you fire a melta weapon inside a ship it will instantly start melting the walls and armor of the ship, making a breach by either melting through the floor or going through a wall going directly outside to the vacuum of space. Plasma weapons pack one hell of a punch, but if you want something gone in a pile of goo you use a Melta weapon, since melta weapons literally will melt anything down in a matter of seconds. It's liquid death in a spray can.

Melta weapons are not chemical weapons. They're microwave beam weapons. =p

That's actually a Volkite weapon, which is an entire level of bad assery above meltas. Meltas depending on the codex use aeroslized prometheum that flash burns hot enough to vaporize metals. Other versions it uses nuclear energy to produce the necessary heat. Take your pick which you prefer.

Okay... so according to some nitwit who wrote a codex revision without bothering to consult previous editions, a Melta gun is actually either a Flamer or a Plasma gun. Got it. -.-

(cuz, y'know... Flamers use aerosolized Promethium to create the flame, and Plasma is a nuclear reaction that turns vapor into a semi-liquid explosive state.)

Jebus, it would be nice if the Games Workshop editors were not always asleep at the wheel...

Not even the emperor himself can make such a miracle happen. Seriously though melta in a space ship really bad idea. Especially a space hulk. You could hit a fuel line or plasma conduit and cause some serious problems. Over penetration is a thing. It's why you don't see lascannons used in boarding actions.

It'd be effective against them simply because at that range you'd vaporize them. An Alpha would easily be reduced to a crispy corpse at the least. But there's just too much that could go wrong in a space ship. There's also the fact that terminator armor isn't exactly mobile and destroying your means of progress would be detrimental to the mission. Nothing says "emperor's finest" like taking a melta to the elevator.
