Aim for the face. It won't tickle
Lol, I always make jokes to my friends when they lose in PvP that "aim for the head", because it's the most retarted thing you can say. But I have to agree with OP, redemption is a water pistol at best. Probably need 200 shots, close range, all hit, in the face for a broodlord to go "oh, what? Is someone there?". I think a lot of the weapons could use some serial tweaks. Thought it will never happen, game is as dead as the Emperor himself.
Oh, AND ADD ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ RELICS
Gods they missed the most obvious way of making random relic hunts the CORE of MP- Relecs unlock gear! -if you have that gear unlocked - give small amount of xp towards your progression of the terminator you are using. And gear unlock cross terminator types, but induvidual xp talent tree for each termi type- THAT IS WHAT WE NEED.
Bah. I've killed a Broodlord in single combat with lightning claws on hard..
You guys must not have enough faith in combat
Redemption is great, as others have said.
all classes are viable, it's one thing the devs got right. in fact the heavy is the weakest class with ff on, lacking in usefull skills and having weapons with serious drawbacks (firing on the movement / firing delay and splash damage). but he is still perfectly viable.
The base Storm Bolter us pretty much better for everything, and it's effectively a full - auto sniper rifle when combined with Crusaders.
The Hellfire Bolter would be a significant upgrade over the Spear of Caliban in pretty much every way, save the fact that it's FF damage is probably huge.
the stormbolter gets obsolet against the white space marine-strain stealers. it does just not enough damage against stalkers and warriors. everybody can try chapter 5 on easy with a stormbolter and see for themselves how long it takes to kill these strains.
the spear is still strong after chapter 4, but ammo management starts to be a real problem. the enemies need roughly double the amount of hits to kill. instead of 3-4 shots against warriors, u will need 6-8. so you can't solo the whole map anymore.
the spear recharges at a little more than one charge per second. if u fire two shots per second, you have enough ammo for 30sec uninterrupted firing. if u take into account that the reload animation for the bolter takes 4-5s, during which u cant use skills, sprint or melee, the spear isnt that bad ammo-wise.
the hellfire does the same amount of damage as the spear, but with splash damage. it has a slow firing rate and only 20 shots in its magazine. both are not classic hitscan weapons. it would be nice, if the devs would add it to multiplayer. but I am sure both apothecary and tactical perform better with their current weapons (esp. with ff on; the game is broken with ff off).
Edit: I had fun with the spear of caliban until it jammed while a few scythe strains running down the hall behind us. I still prefer the assault or devastator classes, mostly the former though because the assault cannon is life.
