Variety of enemies
What else do you fight besides Genestealers? Does the game offer a good variety of enemies to battle?

Tyranids...that's about it. Different ones here and there. Maybe more with DLC someday?

well being a space hulk game Genestealers are your main enemy. but there is enough variation. you have

-hybrids
they came in several flavours including missile launchers, stabbers and psykers

-genestealer
your basic and iconic enemy. it may seem like fodder trust me its not

-stalker strain
you wont see it coming

-warrior strain
bad dude with melee and ranged attacks

-scythe strain
big bad dude

-broodlord
very big very bad dude

and all of the above (except the hybrids) also come in a new and improved chassis but i dont want to go into spoilers

I actually don't mind if you spoil. Go ahead and explain, please. :)

Sadly they cant add other races becaues they bougt a space hulk license and no 40k license so they are not allowed to add new races but maybe other tyranid types but even at this point i am not shure if they have much leeway with that.

Genestealers: The first things you fight, fragile, numerous and actually remarkably dangerous once they reach close quarters. Once the Stalkers/Warriors and especially the damn Scythe strain's start showing up, you'll end up taking a remarkably large amount of damage from them simply because your busy dealing with the 'better' enemies.

Hybrids with guns: Oh look, something that does wildly dispraportional damage for the weapon it has. (only because otherwise they'd just slow you down instead of doing damage.)

Hybrids with rocket launchers: Death incarnate. Literally the first priority in any combat is to lightning blast or shoot these fething bastards before they kill you. Especially annoying are the ones up near the ceiling of a large room, forcing you to search for them as rockets rain down on you.

Turrets: Stupidly effective, especially the rocket ones... but only when your not hacking them. Other then in ambush, not a real threat. (not useful because apparently there's no option to set them to 'kill hostiles to me' without a techmarine around.)

Stalker strain: Best stealth effect I've seen in... possibly any first person shooter. The environment helps and they scramble your radar when they're around. Also hit VERY hard in melee.

Warriors: Basically healthy Genestealers with an acid spit attack. Said attack has no windup or tells by the way, so I usually discover their's a warrior either when it survives more bolt rounds then a base Genestealer or get acid to the helmet.

Scythe Strain: Budget Carnifex, and not the modern gimped 'distraction' one, the old scary monsterous creature that can soak fire like you wouldn't belive. Can actually stand in an Inferno, while being hit with two storm bolters and an assault cannon after being hit with lightning and keep fighting.

I dread when more then one starts showing up at once.

Hybrid Psycher: He knows warp lightning and I think he can teleport. Bloody annoying, picking up the 'double resistance to psy powers' skill in SP is a good plan.

Broodlord: I'm going to guess (haven't met his ugly mug yet) it's basically a Scythe Strain, but more powerful and with psi powers too. That sounds about right.

As for adding more/new enemies: Yeah they could. I would assume that given the expansion they've done (Scythe Strain is a new one to me, though I'm not fully up to date on Nid lore.) they could work in a few more things or stright up throw Gaunts at you if they felt like it. Warriors might work better given you can recycle most of their model and give them diffrent weapon adaptations ect.ect. Not sure on the licencing considerations though. :raven:

I think such things are allowed i meant things like Hive Tyrants ( i know that they are to big for the rooms :))

And as long as they add more variations of tyranids its ok i think. it are mainly other races like orcs or chaos they were not allowed to add depending on the license they bought :)

Games workshop is known for thair relatively strict rules for the licenses

This game is based on the original Space Hulk board game, which was Space Marine Terminators vs. Tyranid Genestealers. That's one of the reasons why you're not seeing the other usual Space Hulk denizens like Chaos worshippers, daemons, and Orks in this game.
