Also Caliban's Will was sent to Caliban for recuitment around 818,M30. (Supposedly)
Anyway geneseeds on the ship is not corrupted much as I know because majority of the Fallen Angels don't worship chaos but however guy on the ship was infact a chaos marine and if you imply that Fallen Angels use different type of geneseed rather than DA's you are clearly wrong and don't know what are you talking about.
No need to get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ about it, I was under the impression that a Gene-seed could be corrupted should the marine bearing it be tainted by Chaos. I could indeed be completely wrong... That's why I ask questions.

"The Zaramund Campaign was a campaign of the Great Crusade. Fought in 970.M30 against Human rebels, it saw Luna Wolves, Death Guard, and Dark Angels forces under Horus, Calas Typhon, and Luther respectively. After the battle, Lion El'Jonson appeared and scolded Luther for deploying his forces from their stationing on Caliban alongside the Luna Wolves and Death Guard without his expressed permission. The Lion stripped Luther of his fleet and forced his return to Caliban. This was another catalyst for the formation of The Fallen."

Reference the recruiting mission.
Since the Dark Angels are the 1st Legion the gene-seed is the pre-mass production varient which has led to it being extraordinarily stable. The flip side is that it's been cooking in the warp for 10000 year and feasted upon by tyranids, the genetic masters that they are. So it's viability is certainly questionable but the potential payoff is immense. Space Marines chapters are unable to create new gene-seed, so a cache of pre Imperium gene-seed in good condition would be a treasure beyond price.
The vision was simply to reinforce that only in death does duty end. The white light (I am assuming is the Empreah) being the reward for perservering.
The dark angels presence that they sensed was the broodlord, reference the cutscene and the apparent Ymgarl face.
All in all I think a very nice "slice" of a story. I imagine it's meant to be integrated into 40k cannon as it seems like the opening of a further tale.
