I just completed playing Millennium 2: Take Me Higher and it was an enjoyable game. Just for clarity, let me state that I had already beat Millennium: A New Hope, and that I also only played the game on normal difficulty so my review will be based on those facts.

If you're a fan of the old 8-bit or 16-bit RPGs that were popular on the SNES or other systems, you're probably going to like this game. It's very smooth, has nice artwork, good music, and I didn't have any problems with bugs. Beating the game will probably take in the ten to fifteen hour range, depending upon how thorough you are in seeking side quests. This game has a number, and you have to be a bit creative to discover them all without cheating. The only ones I found a little superfluous were ones at the end where you basically went and had to hunt down gates in places you've already been.

But, I digress. The story is set in a world where the lead character is Marine, a young girl who is living in a kingdom where a despotic ruler, Lord Dragon, with the help of some nefarious underlings, is running things where only a few benefit and many suffer. So, she is trying to collect heroes to help fight him in a future election. While searching these out, she goes on various misadventures.

Combat is standard RPG menu based fare with basic attacks, accessible skills, defense, and item functions. It can get a bit repetitive, but the game isn't too bad about making you work to level up at normal difficulty, and they offer easier modes called easy and story for those who want less of a challenge, and a harder mode as well for those who prefer. Dungeons will take about an hour to two hours to clear.

One thing that is challenging is finding all the secret rooms. Millennium 2 often hides secrets, so be sure to look and click around a lot. Some players use the mouse mode to do a quick check of the screen to see where jumping off screen can lead you somewhere new. These quests are almost never essential to the game, but something players should seek out because they offer substantial advantages to the characters in game.

It's a good game, and I'll be purchasing the third when it becomes available here on Steam. For the price I paid, just under $5, it was definitely worth the cost in terms of entertainment, although the one thing that does frustrate me a little is reaching the end when it felt like it was just beginning. But, in terms of producing these types of games, I've been a fan of Aldorlea for a while, and if you like games in the RPGMaker+ vein, this is as good as it gets.

Millennium 2 - Take Me Higher is the second series of the Millennium series and a sequel to Millennium - A New Hope, a turn-based RPG Maker game. There is no difference between both games except new characters and areas to explore.

Pros:
- 4 difficulty choices
- Freedom to choose either random encounter or touch-based encounter at the beginning of the game
- Lots of side quests
- Optional bosses

Cons:
- Too many following enemies if you use touch-based encounter
- Some quests are missable if you don't complete it in order
- Too much collision checking; you'll bump into a "wall" a lot
- In-game mouse cursor persists on the screen and the game will highlight the selection based on the cursor even though you don't move it

Yes.
If you enjoy the first game, you should buy this game. I don't recommend you to buy this if you haven't played the first one though since there isn't much happening in this game. Just like the first game, I still can't recommend this at full price so feel free to buy it on discount. Also, make sure you have a decent spec if you plan to keep all of your inventory because the game might crash on low-end devices on the third game.

Even though you'll be traversing new areas, most dungeons have some similarities to the first game (forest, swamp, and ancient temple). I also find that the dungeons become longer and denser; there is even a dungeon where you have to go through 5+ screens to reach the end of it. The mappings are still looking great and each area has a different color palette that differentiates each other.

However, I still have difficulty in traversing some areas. There is too many collision checking in some areas of the game, especially in the map with cliffs on it.

The story starts with an introduction to the game's premise at the beginning to help people that haven't play the first game. To be honest, you're not missing much from the story if you haven't played the first game. The same can be applied to this game though since the dev seems to use the same formula as the first game: find new party members, help to solve their problem, repeat.

The only story that you need to notice in this game is the ending, which is ruined by one of the SFX since it decides to play an upbeat song in a touching moment. However, I think that the cutscene needs to be improved even without that. The main character looks like a teenager who has mood swings to me when I saw the cutscene for the first time.

Importing
You can import your save if you have played the first game. The game will keep your items and reset the others. This means that you'll have some advantages like an ability to open locked chests that can only be done with a certain item and better equipment for your party member. There are still some leeway for people who don't import their save though since there are some items from the first game that can be obtained if you start a new game without importing.

Exploration
Although this is a continuation of the first game, you are not allowed to go through most areas in the first game. You'll explore some new areas on foot and the game also offers an option to skip a dungeon if you have cleared it previously.

You'll spend most of your time on the world map, especially when you're moving around to finish quests, although the rest of the time will be spent on traversing the dungeons. The dungeons in this game are either long or dense, where each of the areas consists of trees that you have to traverse in a huge map.

Party Members
You'll have up to 7 playable party members although some party members will join and leave your party at some point in the game. Each party member has different skills and you can promote them when they reach lv 30 to have a stat increase and/or learn a new skill.

Enemies
The game gives an option to use either a random encounter or a touch-based encounter. However, I find that the dev starts to be creative to force the player to battle enemies even though they choose touch-based encounters. The game has more "homing" enemies than the first game and most of them are placed in a narrow space that you have no choice but to fight them to pass.

Although most of the enemies at the beginning of the game are easy to beat because I imported my save from the first game, I can't say the same for the enemies in the last dungeon. Some enemies are too strong that one of my glass cannon party members die in one hit. I was also having a hard time to traverse this dungeon because my party members were low-leveled.

Bosses
The bosses hit harder than the first game. I even had a problem to defeat the final boss, mainly because most of my party member hardly can deal any damage to it. Some extra bosses are also tougher than the first one; most of them deal huge damage that you need to upgrade your equipment and level up to beat while some of them are tricky that you need to think of a strategy to beat it.

Difficulty
The game allows you to choose one out of four different difficulties in the beginning. Playing in a harder difficulty will make the enemies more difficult and allow you to fight more optional bosses. I played in the hardest difficulty because I want to get all achievements. I didn't find the game to be hard before I went to the last dungeon and fought some optional bosses. I still need to refer to this[drive.google.com], this[www.gamezebo.com], this, and this though to finish the game.

Quests
There are some optional quests in this game that can be triggered by talking to other people. Unlike the first game, the quests in this game don't rely too much on items although some still require an item that you can accidentally sell.

Some quests also require you to complete it in a certain order. You won't be able to complete all of the quests the game has to offer if you mess it up.

Collectibles
Just like the first game, there are some collectibles in this game, mainly in the form of secret rooms and orbs. However, some of them are missable because there are some areas that you can't visit for the second time.

System
The game still supports keyboard and mouse input. However, I don't see any improvement with the mouse because the problem that I had in the first game still persists; the in-game mouse cursor is still on the screen even though my mouse is outside the screen and the game still highlights the selection based on it even though I didn't move it.

It's a sequel of Millennium - A New Hope, a turn-based RPG Maker game. It has hard-hitting bosses and long dungeons although the game doesn't have much story to offer.

Care Spoilers. The second of five parts. The story goes further searching new warriors for the battle, the rebellion against the rich suppressor Lord Dragon. This time we search in the west of the country then in the east like in part 1 and after the monk we founded, now we find another strong men that have his soft side like Hirado has it too. This time for the beauty of words and he is most time very helpful fighter only 1 time he is like Mr. T and his planes phobia from the A-Team because bad Juju he fears and again we get a tough woman in team that not hunts crocodiles but tame many dangerous animals. Both can be very useful.

This time you get at some points to get a bigger party like a second lovely fairy, a terminator robot and a thing that is helpful like Kapador from Pokemon, but maybe it evolve to something stronger in other games like a Garados Version, maybe something dragon like, who know without the people that had the luck to play 3-5 already. So you have the choice. Damn that the roboter cant update himself, it would be nice if he would get somehow leveling up like other maybe he could need longer for it so more exp he need and maybe some metals or other stuff, but that would be nice to upgrade him, too. But its fine.

The story is not much bigger then 1 but a great aspect with the mother comes in it and the end of 2nd part is great and sad, too. Nothing what no one could think before see it but damn its fine. The game has again 40 quest + 1 great bonus one and again you need to take care what to do first, because quest overlapping danger that you cant finish Quest 12 when you have finish 4, need to play hardcore to encounter all 8 bosses (normal 6, easy- very easy only 4) but its nice to take care, sure could be there sometimes a second solution like lending the book for quest 12 or MiniBoss Babys in Gigantic Lair for be a 2nd poxed chance but its only a few. The guide and/ or game could be mark this dangerous quest from the beginning somehow like RED for to it first priority but its fine. So it has 5 modes (story mode) and is really tough even with importing your save (items and co. from 1) and later to 3, the bosses can be really tough and frustrating but damn are you happy if you beat them, like starting weekend.

The quest are fine, some reminds on part 1 and some are tough again finding charms, gates or Bokden again that hides this time even better then in part 1. The 32 secret rooms are very helpful but really hard to find, the last one Nr. 7 in the autumn woods was even not in the guide so well good hidden it is and there are other secrets to find too like a house and a garden or a 2nd room you maybe need an item to find, all really great and hard to find but be happy if you done all 32 and get the many stuff out of it and find every piece that the developers make hard to find. I enjoy the game again very much only that you cant get the choice of getting back the items of Hirado, Katrine is hard, so take care before they leave your team, save often enough, they leave soon (Spoiler Hirado after Myst Town leaving and Katrina after beating the 1 boss in the underground after the earthquake) and take them their items back if you have them from game nr. 1 and second some areas you cant go back, so really check every corner with enter very well and enjoy, there are many secrets/ hidden objects everywhere.

I hope you give this game a chance and maybe enjoy it. Its sad that so many people play game nr. 1 and write a review but Nr. 2 dont get this great support i give this game personal 9.4 of 10.0 points. The areas are great even a second ancient area, 2nd swamp area dont feel like the ones in game nr. 1, the music has good parts and some that are middle positioned. So check every map and corner and reach nearly 100 % of the game and hopefully you want like me play part 3 now. Thanks for reading and a great time.

While I do recommend this game and playing the series in order to get the full experience, I'll be honest and say this installment is probably the weakest overall. It starts off great. You get to see Mystrock finally and the sheer difference between the peasants' way of life and that of the Mystrock citizens which adds to the overall lore of the series and we also get some more details about what Marine's quest is going to involve and actually get to meet some of your upcoming foes.

Then the game takes a bit of a nosedive when you end up with just Benoit and Marine again and are looking for some more warriors.

The game definitely suffers a lot from the fact that Marine is easily distracted from her quest by her emotions. We learn in this game that she very much wants to know what happened to her mother and she'll always help a person in need even if that may delay her a lot.

So overall it is a fun game, but it has a lot of low points and starts well and then sinks a bit untl you get some more party members and does finally improve.

Overall pros:
+More of a choice of party this time around. You'll have more than 4 people available so you can try out some different choices.
+Some great backstory and character development for Marine and Benoit and there are plenty of fun parts to the story.
+The ability to import your save from the 1st game is really nice to help give an edge. Also this game does have available some stuff that will be invaluable even through the last game.
+Some of the more annoying achievement typs from the first game weren't included here which made it more fun to 100%. There's no achievement for not using go-through, which makes it far more bearable to backtrack and no achievements for finding orbs

Overall cons:
-When importing you don't keep all your gold, stats and levels so the game can start off a bit harder than the end of the first game was due to this. Importing does have an advantage because you'll have more gold and levels and you'll have most of your items as well.
-Way too much focus on a certain massive spider and Jezebel's griffin. The sheer amount of time spent on these quests made it very hard to suspend disbelief on how realistic things could be.
-A decent amount of backtracking will be needed if you want to finish all the quests.

Overall though, I do think the game is worth playing because the plot will enhance your experience in later games and many items you pick up in this game will be very valuable down the line. While it is very possible to play the later games without having played all the previous ones, you'll be at a disadvantage for not importing a save and the overall experience will not be as good because you will have missed some plot points. In good news though, the low points don't last too long, only up until you get your first warrior in this game. There are enough good points that it's worth its asking price and you'll get a good solid about 15-20 hours of play from it.

Edit to add: After having finished the whole series I do want to add a couple of points to this. This game definitely is one that sets up some plot elements that will be fully resolved in the 4th and 5th games. So while you can understand 4 and 5's plot fine without this one, it will mean a lot more if you've played this game and seen the setup.

Also, in the last area of this game you can get 99 diamond nuggets with a bit of grinding and also max out on some powerful healing items that can't be bought in any other games. That fact alone will make things much easier in the later games, especially the achievments for earning gold. Those diamond nuggets will save you a ton of grinding for gold and will help with some boosts to party members to make up for some of the losses you can take from starting a new game.

I enjoyed the first part of this Millennium series a lot and I thought that this series might be as fun as Aveyond. Unfortunately part 2 of Millennium just isn't as good at all and reading reviews of the rest of the series I see that the main issues I have with part 2 only gets worse as it progresses.

The main storyline was much shorter than the first game. Things felt more unbalanced and there wasn't enough areas to explore to make all the traversing through the map feel anything but like a boring grind once I'd already visited a place.

But what really killed the game for me is how things are time sensitive. Unless you spend a lot of time searching every inch of the screen in the areas your character walk through you may later discover that you can't go back to that area. I like exploring and I had a lot of fun finding all the secret rooms in the first game. The first game had a time sensitive issue as well but not being able to buy all the things from the forge because I hadn't been aware of it wasn't so dissappointing that I felt let down and I felt that I could easily replay the game on hard mode later and make sure not to forget the forge then.

In this game however I discovered that I had already lost the chance of completing all quests half an hour into my game since I had no idea I wouldn't be able to revisit Mystrock again once I left. It was a very disheartening discovery 15+ hours into the game that I wouldn't be able to complete two quests because I hadn't spent more time searching through the first town I went to before leaving it again.

This series makes me feel as if I need a walkthrough to guide me step by step through it if I want to complete all the quests. I usually don't want a walkthough until I've been stuck and desperate for a while.

Millennium - Take me Higher just isn't fun enough to restart the game and replay it and I've lost the will to try the next part of the series.

I played the original non-Steam version of Millennium 2.
To put it short - it's like the first part (obviously), but to me the second game is overally better tuned and polished - more complex battles, better maps (and even more jumping-fun) and equippment. As the story progresses, it becomes a bit more thrilling, too. The length and number of quests / areas is similar to the previous game, so if you like the first one, this one is definitively worth playing.

Millennium 2 - Take Me Higher is the second game in the five-episode Millennium game series. Before moving on to the actual review, I'd like to point out that it is highly recommended to start this series off with the first game, Millennium - A New Hope, if you have not already played it. It would be best to know the story from when, where, and why it began, rather than jumping into it when it's already near halfway over. It'll be a lot easier knowing some of the areas and characters from the first game, and actually understanding what the story is about.


Millennium 2 - Take me Higher, continues the story of Marine, a young girl on a seemingly impossible quest to find 13 warriors to face off against the goverment of Mystrock. Along with her friends, she goes off to continue her search for the remaining 10. That's basically what this entire series is about, find a total of 13 warriors to help you fight and change the fate of the poor. Sounds boring, right? It's not.


Unlike Millennium - A New Hope, this particular episode in the series felt much shorter, maybe even a little rushed. It took me about two days to FULLY complete it, and get all the achievements, where as the first game took me more or less five days to complete, and even longer to get all the achievements for it. I'll be honest, a lot of this episode felt like tedious grinding, and some of the areas were way too long and stretched. That's what took up most of my gameplay hours, trying to get through a long area or dungeon to move on with the story, just to find out that the exact same process awaits me on the other side. But, yet again, you are traveling all over the world to find 13 warriors, so I suppose that's needed, and just part of the game.


Like the first Millennium, this one offers special features that other RPGMaker games commonly lack. And, even a choice, if you would like these features, or not. So if you're into playing it on hard without knowing where to go, the game allows that, but if you're more of a casual type, and you'd prefer to be guided, the game allows guiding arrows to point in the path of the main quest. Something else I enjoyed was the art, and music. Together, they made a beautiful combination, just like the first game did. The areas, too, all seemed pretty, and detailed.


Now, for the conclusion of this review, I'll say that Millennium 2 - Take Me Higher, was a pretty good continuation of the series, yet a bit short. If you enjoyed the first game, then you'll enjoy seeing how the story progresses! Do I recommend it? Yes, I think this series has potential, and if given the chance, could be worth your time. If you're a fan of the first game, then Millennium 2 - Take Me Higher, is a must-have. I'm looking forward to the adventures that await within the next games, and, hopefully, an ending worth the wait. My only fear at this point, is that the series will turn into a pointless grind. So far so good, right?

First, I'll say that my review is based on my playthrough of the version before this offering at Steam.

This is the 2nd installment of the Millennium series (of 5), and, as such, continues this superb, well told, interesting, and fun story. It is a game that features the old style rpg gameplay that many of us have always enjoyed. And while there are many of these type games available ---- no one does them like Aldorlea.

To begin with, the storytelling in Aldorlea's games is excellent, engaging, and very deep with many curves that are surprising but not illogical. So, as a player, your interest is held from the beginning and remains throughout.

The graphics and animation are beautifully presented.

Music is surprisingly nice, and fits the circumstances of game events perfectly.

Loads of quests to take on, and secrets to discover as you move through this story concerning the gathering of warriors that add up to 30-40 hours of gameplay with lots of replay value ---- and now with all the Steam achievements it simply means another replay for me! And I'm sure I will enjoy every minute of it. No one does these games like Indy, and at the current sale price the game is an absolute steal. I can't wait to see the other games in the series here at Steam ---- and, for that matter, ALL of the games from Aldorlea. They are that good.

The second in the Millenium saga, this game takes the concepts of the first game and builds on them to a better degree. The developer seems to have learned some things from the first title (and their other projects). More threats to fight, more evils to defeat. And all to prepare for the final battle to come three segments ahead.

You start at level 20, so take that as a small indication of the strength your foes start with.
