PS: I'd still argue that Rareware games were often kid friendly and that PD isn't that gory as a FPS (compared to Doom, Quake and Half-Life) but it's clear they made it "safe" looking...
Almost as if this new game is a more lighthearted variant of the classic.
The game happening in Cairo in broad daylight is truly different than an US city at night.
Chicago and Area 51 Infiltration are not set in daytime.
Regardless of the rest of the game the first impression is also more impactful for the original 64 game than this one.
If they set it at night with you starting on the rooftop and then the mission in the streets are after you're done rescuing Dr Caroll I wouldn't have minded.

Look at how badass Enter Joanna is. How it tells you that you must not kill everyone (since the key would become useless), teaching you that you can just knock people without killing them unlike Goldeneye 64 and how Joanna, despite how serious the missions will be, still makes a small joke by asking if "they're all expendable".
https://youtu.be/mddHEFDv4nQ?si=XUDaDuCanBGsxj1P Sounds like Vangelis a bit too.
Maybe they'll listen if we buy the reboot first, that's our best bet.
That "vote" works both ways 🤷🏼♀️
And you think I like it?
