i have an idea maybe REMOVE THE GAME OFF OF EPIC AND GIVE US A STEAM COPY atleast it works here but epic games sucks
That is what happened to me (but i did need to do this first before even being able to do anything (even get past the language screen) -
It is most likely anti-piracy that is doing it. My guess is that it looks for steam verification and can't find it. When it can't, it closes. But when we do the trick, it thinks it closes but it hasn't and that's it. Or it (after thinking it closes) looks THEN for Epic verification and finds it and lets it run. Doesn't look for them at the same time. Or we delay it closing while it looks for Epic verification and it cancels it closing. The way (other than giving it to us on steam) is to look for steam verification, if it doesn't find it, it looks for Epic verification. Then if it can't find EITHER, it then closes. If it finds one, it runs. OR have an ecripted file where it says what type of verification you have then it checks when you load it before checking the other types. If it finds one of the other types, it writes it into the encripted file and stuff like your PC's name and checks if it matches with what the part of the data says. If it finds that the data says it is not runned before, check for other types. Just an idea.
I tried to click something, even reinstalled the game, but that did not help.
Help me gyus
I have tried with the proposals presented here in the past, none of these works. Is it worth putting energy on the game as a consumer or has the train gone?
I know it's not a popular option, but a work mate downloaded an illegal copy, it works flawlessly, and we have the same type of computer, the same drivers, basically the same software installed for that matter as well.
Please let me know if it is worthless to play this through EPIC, a straightforward, simple and preliminary answer would be grateful.
- go to File Explorer-->Documents-->The Escapists
- open the settings.cfg file with word pad
- set the language to <nil> Basically, delete the language default. So that line should look like this:
Lang=
- save the file
- set the file to Read Only (to keep the language from defaulting to what you chose last time)
For me, the game ran fine after this. Something about having ANY default language crashed it. It means you have to choose a language every time, but that's not a hardship... I also made the screen default to be windowed, not full screen. Not sure if that mattered. I also didn't bother with the dragging around of the window as mentioned elsewhere on here. It has loaded fine each time now. Saving the cfg file as read only means you don't have to bother deleting the file before launching each time.
NOTE: this fix did NOT work for me on a Windows 7 machine. Not sure why
We have just released a patch to try to fix this issue - would you be able to please make sure that your game is updated and retest?
If you are still having issues, would it be possible to see your system information? To do this:
- Hold down the Windows Key and press R, the Run dialogue should appear > Type dxdiag in the available text field > Click OK
- Click Save All Information > Save the file DxDiag.txt to your Desktop so it is easy to find
- Open the .txt file, copy all the contents > Paste all the contents to a free text hosting service such as http://justpaste.it, http://textuploader.com or http://freetexthost.com
- Copy the link to your post

Launch failed

Thank you so much for confirming and for your system information - would you be so kind and update your graphics card drivers, just so that we can be sure that it's not that causing the issue?
- Go to the official NVidia download centre here[www.nvidia.com]
- Using the dropdown menus, fill in your graphics card information and press "Search"
- In the new page, click on Download and then Download again
- Right-click over the file and select Run as administrator
- If you are prompted by Windows User Account Control, click on Yes. The installer will prompt you for an extraction path. Most users should be fine with the default path.
- Once the driver install has completed, the extracted files will automatically be removed from your PC. Choose OK.
- You will next be prompted to accept the NVIDIA software license agreement. Read the contents and then if you agree, click "AGREE AND CONTINUE" to proceed.
- Next, choose Custom (Advanced). Then click NEXT.
- Select Perform clean install and then click on NEXT.
- Once the installation has finished, reboot your PC one more time to complete the installation.

Thank you so much for the update - would you be so kind and tell us your username on Epic so that we can investigate further?

I got it to work by checking "run as administrator" for the Epic app.
