After updating Steam, my desktop is littered with about 30 random icons
Overview:
This issue has occurred the past 2 Steam updates. After I update Steam, around 30 icons are added to my desktop. Some of these are easily deleted, but others are part of the Steam Client WebHelper, which constantly runs no matter what. This means I have about 15 permanent random icons on my desktop at all times, because you can't move or delete files that are currently running.

Also, deleting these results in me having to re-install all my steam games. Basically I'm forced to have all these icons on my desktop or else I have to spend hours re-installing my game library.

Steps: Update steam, after install I immediately receive my lovely new icons on my desktop.

Result: As I said, around 30 icons added to the desktop background. These include, but are not limited to...
Various folders (bin,userdata,config), various .dll files (icui18n.dll,winh264.dll,Steam2.dll, etc.)

Expected result: to not have icons added and spammed across my desktop after an update... lol

I'll restate the major issue: I have to leave these icons on my desktop, else I am required to re-install all my games

Minimum Spec:
My issue is not with games, its with the Steam application itself.
I meet all the required specs..

Operating System: Windows 10
Processor: 6 core 3.2GHz
Memory: 2 X 8GB RAM
Graphics:Radeon RX580
Network: Broadband internet connection
Sound Card: Windows Compatible Card

The suggestions listed below don't apply. I can play games just fine. The problem is I don't want icons filling up my desktop that I can't remove

Can I have some more directions please? Upon searching 'desktop icons' on this forum, I only see my post as a result.

I also can't find my issue when following your link.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest that you follow the link I posted previously, and contact Steam directly. It sounds like your problem is Steam based and they will be able to help you about this issue more specifically.
