How do I leave a book on a desk?

Hi, the job description for the librarian says that I'd have to leave the books on the desks of the people they belong to. It even explains that I'm supposed to leave the books *ON* the desks and not *IN* the desks - but how does this work? I can't right-click the book when standing on the desk, and if I stand next to the desk and click the book, then I just drop it to the floor an my job quota doesn't rise. Do you know how to do this?

just give the people the books personally, you dont have to leave books on their desks.

Yes I know, but sometimes I can't reach the person. Last time I was supposed to give a book to a person who was also at work at the time and who was standing behind a locked door.

To leave the book on the desk, use the book on the desk (select the book in your inventory, then left-click the desk)
