XBOX One Graphics - Will it really be console exclusive?

Okay, first things first - I know that The Escapists won't be console exclusive. I'm not stupid, and I'm assuming that you aren't either. I have the feeling that someone's going to post with " NO YOU DUMB BECUZ IT WILL BE ON EVRY SYSTEM!! LOLZNOOB", or something similar to. As such, I have covered my bases with this fact - I am NOT talking about the base game when I say "console exclusive". Anyways...

My question is this. Are you seriously going to make the graphics of the version for the Xbox One exclusive to the Xbox one? I know that there are going to be people who say "I don't want pretty graphics for my game on the PC", but I would personally enjoy having my game look like that. A possible solution is to have an option in the settings that enables/disables the 'better' (I'm reluctant to use that word, but I don't have anything else to say in place of it) graphics. I know there's the whole push for "Consoles must look better than PC to get more sales!", but my image of The Escapists and the greater indie game scene would drop horrendously if the development team actually agreed to make feature(s) exclusive to the consoles just to make the big conglomerate known as microsoft happy, because then they're selling more consoles.

Long story short - Please don't make the graphics proposed in the trailer for The Escapists: Xbox One edition exclusive to the console. Please, make an option in the PC version that allows for toggling the new graphics (, look and feel) that were proposed in said trailer. Once again, if you do make it console-only, I will not be very happy.

I'm NOT saying that you have been doing a bad job by any means, but all I'm asking for is for you devs to make everything available to everyone, even if it's optional.


I'm extremely sorry if this sounded like I'm being a ♥♥♥♥/jerk/younameit, but I really hate the new push for console exclusives just to make more sales.

(P.S. Also, great job on the game! I'm loving it! Also, if you have already stated that you will/will not be making the graphics console-exclusive, then please tell me! Steam's search function appears to be made by a bunch of 7 year olds.)

The Devs are an independent studio and I feel they would make both systems equal in their features (Even though PC may be ahead a bit) Their most likely in my opinion going to improve the graphics for the PC like how it was shown in the xbox trailer

I figured so too.

It's just that Microsoft is on the other end of the Xbox One deal, and as such they might've tried some sneaky moves (like telling the devs to make something console-exclusive) in order to try and increase sales of their latest console. Don't get me wrong, the Xbox One has damn good potential, but the company behind it is just herpin' and derpin', and here we are.

Once again, I am extremely sorry if this sounds like something a ♥♥♥♥ would say in any way, because that's not how I intended it at all.

It would suck because anyone who has the pc version would have to buy the console edition so the game looks a tiny bit better, I really hope they don't limit the game to one platform in any way.

The Xbox One graphics are not part of some sort of deal with Microsoft. In fact, the Xbox One version uses a different engine to that used on PC - hence the differences :)

when i say this i dont mean ANY disrespect but didnt we have a poll in EA that we WOULDNT make any content exclusive to any group of people (with exception of EA people getting an extra prison)?
but if i understand correctly, is that because of the engine used on The Escapists PC that we wont have the Xbox1 graphics?

The engine should support it, I mean, it should only be retextures and a coding in of a change to this button, right?

I personally would love to see those graphics in our beloved game- They look prettier, and hey, we were your earliest supporters and the ones who made this game what it is. I personally belive we should atleast get what they get. Fhurst Peak is just another prison- This changes the whole game, other than the mechanics.

No, we had a poll to discuss whether specific maps should be made available to all players on PC, or just Early Access players on PC. The Xbox One content never came into that discussion ;)

Why didn't you guys do what EVERY other game seems to do and have a toggle between standard and "extreme or high" graphics?

the irony is that pc games are the ones that are supposed to look better..
Do you think you might make an option to change the graphics, maybe like two options
classic, which is the current one, and normal, which is the Xbox one.

can't find a reason to not make the change lol... and having exclusive prisions for certain people sucks... just make a dlc and make your money there... but dont block content from us....
