Shankton State - Can't use Grappling Hook?

I've seen several sources that state that you can use the Grappling Hook to scale the outer wall and escape, but it's not letting me do that... In fact, I can't climb ANYTHING with the Grappling Hook except the small "walls" on the roof.

Is the only way to escape to dig under the wall?

Yes, you can only dig under the wall. You can only use Grappling Hook to descend from the roof. This also applies to the Sheet Rope. In fact, you should make a Sheet Rope instead of a Grappling Hook, it's just 2 Bed Sheets.

The Sheet Rope is how I got down from the roof. Got to the outer wall and expected to be able to use the Grappling Hook to get on top of it, then the Sheet Rope to descend down the other side.

Yeah, I think that you will need to get a sturdy shovel and dig under the wall.

The grappling hook allows you to ascend small walls on the roof, while sheet rope (or normal rope) allow you to descend them. And yes, you can scale the outer wall with the grappling hook, but only if you're on the roof (so you must be on a roof adjacent to the outer wall, and there's only one, that's the point).

Do you try to use it to descend small walls on the roof ? Sheet rope can't do anything else.

i figured it out eventually but i still didnt escape because i only had 1 trovel so yeah i need to try again
