What are Trowels For?

My first time playing, in the first morning a guy comes at me with a plastic knife - naturally, since plastics knives are such a dangerous weapon - I run away and the guards deal with him. In his inventory is a trowel, I pick it up - wondering it's use. Overhead, I hear a scream: "I saw that!". Heart pounding, I make a run for it. I manage to run into a cell before a guard finds me and live within an ounce of my life...

So, what is this trowel for? How can I use it?

If you hold shift and hover your mouse over any tool or weapon it will say something like digging 1/5 or chipping 2/5 etc. Trowel has Digging 5/5 so it's a great showel.

just kidding, finding a 5/5 digging item the first day seem a bit Over Powered
